Summary

The heart-hammering thriller from the queen of the London crime scene.

'Spine-tingling suspense!' LISA GARDNER

A serial killer is being closely watched by one young boy.

Barney knows the killer will strike again soon. The victim will be another boy, just like him. He will drain the body of blood, and leave it on a Thames beach.

There will be no clues for detectives Dana Tulloch and Mark Joesbury to find.

There will be no warning about who will be next.

There will be no good reason for young policewoman Lacey Flint to become involved . . . And no chance that she can stay away.

Critic Reviews

Bolton rules the world of psychological thrillers (Nina Sankovitch)
Ingenious
Nail-biting, spine-tingling, up-till-4a.m.-because-you-need-to-know-how-it-finishes tension!
Close-to-the-bone red herrings skillfully strewn across the detectives’ paths, convincing cop-shop procedure, and perceptively drawn secondary characters help push this contemporary crime novel ahead of the pack . . . Bolton looks deep into the lost-soul madness of a killer and makes her vision all too horribly real.
Bolton sets aside the gothic-tinged atmosphere of her early novels in favor of a more visceral sensibility, exerting immediate and continuing pull by stepping in and out of an unnamed killer’s mind . . . a nail-biting thriller
An all-round hit; scary, twisty and intense
Scared the hell out of me!

Excellent book, loving the Lacey Flynt series. Constantly coming up with different suspects right to the end.

Great book and highly recommend.

Is it still okay to describe a book as "un-put-downable" if you listened to it rather than read it? That's how I would describe this one. The only frustration I have is with the time it is taking the two lead characters to get together.

Another gripping tale

very engrossing thriller with some good police characters. Lacey is interesting as a deeply traumatised, maverick cop, albeit bordering on femme fatale (ie. effortlessly seducing all male police while somewhat justifiably pissing off her female boss). i felt sorry for Dana Tulloch!

Good storytelling

Sharon has done it again with a gripping storie from start to end. I love how she weaves Lacey into the book. It had me on the edge of my car seat the whole time.
Well done too Lisa Colman. She is one of my Favourite Narrators and has done a fantastic Job in Like This, Forever.

Gripping.
