About this listen
My father was a serial killer—or so I thought.
My dad, Dennis Kempmen, had his quirks but was respected in our small town. That was until children began disappearing and he became the main suspect.
I started to believe what others were saying: My father was a killer.
Then it happens again. A little girl disappears in a similar way the others were taken.
Everything I thought I knew is revealed to be a lie.
But as I unravel the deception and deceit that the town was hiding, I realize the truth is much worse.
And the truth comes with a deadly price.
©2025 James Caine (P)2025 Dreamscape Media- the plot
- the story moved relatively quickly
- despite jumping timelines between past and present it was easy to follow along
- there were some twists I didn’t see coming
What I hated:
- there was a “thin smile” almost every second chapter (sorry but very cringe and repetitive)
- the attempted male voice by the narrator just made it sound like she was constipated
- the narrator was also very flat the entire story, exact same pitch and tone when shouting, whispering, angry, happy, etc.
- the epilogue was awful
No more thin smiles
