Good Book. Give it a try.
Let the Wild Out by Madelyn Porter
***Contains M/F/M relationships***
Your going to want to read this book! The story is full of humor, love, action, hot sexy male shifters, intrigue, magic and a murder plot. What more could you want?
The main characters are Rachel,William and Douglas. Rachel is a very rare shifter an Omni giving her the ability to shift into 3 different animals. It also leaves her vulnerable to people wanting her because of her abilities. So she hides away in a mountain sanctuary. Then we have William who is a clan chief and wolf shifter and Douglas the clan chief of the panthers. To prevent a war from brewing between their two different clans, William and Douglas are required to mate/marry the same woman thus making her their queen.
I loved the chemistry between all 3 of them. It was funny how they would handle who gets to be with her and when. The action/danger they faced was interesting and keeps you glued to the book. The sex was just the right amount of hot. The entire story is well written and flows at a good pace. I hope there is a book 2 that continues their story.
I recommend this book to all paranormal romance readers!!!

Fun and Wild!
I was immensely pleased to find this book in audio. I had previously read the book and forgotten about it until a little ways into the audio. I really enjoyed Let the Wild Out. And Rebecca Cook did a fabulous job with the narrations. I especially enjoyed when towards the end there is a bit where Rachel throws out a line in a man’s voice. Rebecca nailed it.
Rachel is a shifter in Colorado that is discovered by the Clan Chiefs from England and Scotland. After attempts on the clan chiefs lives, they take Rachel with them back to England. But the threats don’t stop there. Rachel continues to find herself in harms way around Dougal and William. There are a lot of petty shifter politics and old ways that they all must navigate around.
During all of the chaos Rachel discovers that the chiefs need a single bride to share. They are fairly sure they want her. Can she except their desire? She wants them but doesn’t want everything that goes with the job. Let the Wild Out really had me hooked. In the end, things are revealed and it’s not what everyone expected. Making the ending more exciting.

Full of quick switches in action and location
A shifter romance unlike those I have read before, the insertions that brought a giggle were many. Porter starts the story with a nod to her publishing cohorts Mandy M. Roth and Michelle Pillow, at a book reading/signing as we are introduced to Rachel, the heroine.
Rachel was raised by her aunt, a bird shifter with a penchant for keeping two lovers handy, growing herbs and other bits in her garden and the occasional arrest. Although as a bird shifter Auntie Elvie was arrested quite often, Rachel thinks she just enjoyed being in handcuffs. Alone in the world now, all of Rachel’s family has died, and she is hiding under the ‘shifter radar’ by not shifting.
Douglas and William are chiefs of their clans, and their traditions require they share a wife, with the children from the unions being raised with each clan’s traditions and lore without regard to parentage. The eldest of the two chiefs gets the eldest child, the second goes to the next, and so on. It is time for them to choose their wife: preferably young, pretty and full-blooded shifter.
When she is confronted with Douglas, a powerfully potent shifter, chief of a clan, and bearing the crest on his hand, her first instinct is to run: far away. When William arrives at her doorstep and she is hit with his animal magnetism, it is almost too much to bear. Whisked away to the clan chieftan’s home in the UK after a fire destroyed her lodge, she is slowly coming to grips with her feelings for the two, and the security that she feels when with them.
There is a massive clash of wills: as clan chiefs both William and Douglas are used to being obeyed: but their revelation to Rachel that she can make a request and they are obligated to obey gives her a unique power that is far beyond her omni-shifter nature. It’s funny to watch the two as they angle for supremacy with her, and Rachel’s very matter of fact manner and way of putting them in line. In fact, several moments in this story will have you laughing at the dialog and the odd situations.
Full of quick switches in action and location, while the story isn’t always smooth, it is always well told and depicted. Rebecca Cook’s narration is super, adding a gruffness to William and Douglas, some stealth and disdain into Magda, a touch of wonder underlaid with steel for Rachel. Her voice never interferes with the story, but moves smoothly from one situation or character to the next with precision.
Above all else, this is a story of shifters and the animal desires that they all have are never far from the surface. Super hot sex scenes, some in ménage, some hot and frantic: the sexual tension and action is enough to fulfill every erotic romance fans needs, and the story will feed the romantic in you, even with the fur.
I received an AudioBook copy of the title from the author for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

Wild but not really
I picked this book because of I am a fan of Rebecca Cook, she is one of my fave narrators. I love her style, her variations of voices and emotions. Great performance as usual.
Ms. Porter is a new author for me.
The story is ok at the beginning, but it picks up as it goes on. Various PNR species are playing part along the way, a few twists that I didn't see coming kept me listening wanting to know what happens next. The claiming of Rachel was a bit lacking, especially that the two Chiefs are shifters, I was expecting a bit more story there, seduction and heat. Overall I liked Douglas and William, not sure about Rachel, some of her behaviour was irrational, I guess because her life was being threatened at every turn, but she redeemed herself at the end. I laughed out loud at the end scene... men LOL

Mischief and Mayhem in pursuit of a bride!
What did you love best about Let the Wild Out?
two big, hot, very alpha shifters that trip all over themselves to make the girl happy.
What other book might you compare Let the Wild Out to and why?
Mandy Roth and Michelle Pillow both have many books that offer similar themes and great characters.
Which character – as performed by Rebecca Cook – was your favorite?
Rachel
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
mostly laugh, but there were a few scenes that choked me up too.
Any additional comments?
Whew! Douglas and William make the perfect combination for husbands! Rebecca has avoided being part of the shifter community because she has a secret she was told since youth to never let the other shifters discover. Of course the Two clan chiefs of all shifters are on the hunt for a bride they must share and Douglas decides to try in America, he happens on Rachel and despite the fact she says she is a trout he wants her, enough that he takes a picture when she is not looking and sends it to William. William has an immediate, intense reaction to just her picture and flies to Douglas to check her out. That sets off several assassination attempts and Douglas and William kidnap Rachel and take her back to Europe. Confused and torn she tries to work through her feeling for both men and figure out who is trying to kill her and why, she is not sure she wants to be a queen but she does want to be with both men. The characters are well developed and I really enjoyed the story especially the scene with the Ball. I highly recommend this book!
Rebecca Cook is an awesome narrator!! She has a great voice and is very good at differentiating characters, very enjoyable listen.

hot steamy. but not much depth.
Would you recommend Let the Wild Out to your friends? Why or why not?
sure, it delivers a short steamy story, that will leave anyone hot under the collar.
Any additional comments?
it was a fine, what i would call, short story. it was hot and the scenes were very graphic. there was just not much depth to the story, it is a slam bam thankyou mam kind of story. we don't get much of a back story, a little here and there. when that is said, i liked the new take of the shifter world, with the chieftains and the royal scene.
so to sum up, a fine story, but don't expect a profound ore soulful story. this author still need some experience in my opinion.

I would consider reading this :)
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I did enjoy listening to this book. I chose to listen during finals week so that was not a smart thing to do on my part. If it had not been finals week, I still would have listened toit. It was a nice book :)
Would you be willing to try another book from Madelyn Porter? Why or why not?
Yes I would because I enjoy her work. She has a funny style to her writing that I find entertaining.
Did Rebecca Cook do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
This was my first audio book. I thought she did a nice job. I was able to distinguish between the characters that were portrayed. Personally when I read a book and not listen as an audio, I develop my own sense of the character. I found that her brogue was just ok ( I did receive a shiver down my spine at one point) but was not the best. I also felt that when one of the characters were expressing anger or some form of strong emotion I felt that she did a 3.85 in expressing this. Over all I did enjoy listening to her read to me :)
Do you think Let the Wild Out needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
I think it can have a follow-up book, but it isn't necessarily required. This book ended like many movies do, where I can give them a happily ever after and other things in my imagination. There isn't a lot of wondering and cliff hanging at the end which was nice (making this a quick approx. 7 hour listen). It would be nice if there was a follow-up just to see how Rachel is responding to being Chieftess/Queen and what the sex of her children are, etc.; although it would not be required.
Any additional comments?
I enjoyed this book, but it was not my favorite. i did find it quite funny though although sometimes I had wanted to stop listening, I just couldn't because I wanted to find out how it ended (and I hate not finishing a book). Overall this book receives a 2.89 out of 5 stars for me.:)

A nice try but sadly lacking
I hate to give a bad review and the storyline seemed interesting and perked my attention but it lacked many descriptions that enable the listener to visualise both the characters and the scenes. Then it was just bish bash bosh and they claimed her within seconds of meeting so no build-up towards a tender sweet romance.
Two opposing Were Clan Chief's William and Douglas (one English and one Scottish) have to share their Queen so set about looking in America where they aren't known and by Chapter 2 they'd found Rachel and by Chapter 3 they'd each had sex. I didn't find the sex scenes very descriptive, tantalising or erotic but more standard as each Chief took their turn separately until near the end and then the M/F/M action was just the norm (I'm not complaining but just pointing this out).
The action came from someone wanting Rachel dead and hired a mad Were Assassin to do it and it wasn't too difficult to figure out who however there were plenty of suspects but, as usual, the heroine decides to ignore everyone and goes for a run in the woods which turned out to be a dumb move. William and Douglas were nice, caring and thoughtful characters which gave them an endearing quality but Rachel's thoughts and feelings were, for several reasons, all over the place and I just couldn't warm to her.
Worth a credit? If this had been more skilfully written with plenty of world-building, descriptions and a longer lead up to the sex and romance then yes, but there are plenty of far better Were-shifting books out there. So, sadly I'm going to have to say, in my opinion, it is what it is - a very quick, half hearted attempt at an erotic PNR, the ending was good however that doesn't make it creditworthy but hey maybe you'll like it.
