James Orchard Halliwell-Phillipps (1820-1889) était un spécialiste de Shakespeare et un collecteur de comptines et de contes de fées anglais. Il publie en 1842 son Nursery Rhymes qui contient la première version imprimée des Trois Petits Cochons ainsi que Les Douze Jours de Noël. Plus tard, il se consacrera entièrement à Shakespeare.
