Johann Karl August Musäus (1735-1787) verdanken wir die Niederschrift der Rübezahl-Legenden. Er gilt als einer der bedeutendsten Volksmärchen- und Sagensammler des 18. Jahrhunderts und hat daneben zahlreiche Satiren und Parodien verfasst.
