I really like this book the little input of your heritage is so well down and her interaction with other characters is just really good sometimes I feel like it not real but the it understand able because the story dose need that type of interaction.

enjoyed listening but won't read on. most interesting past was the colonial slave history context of a magic society. worst part was that the main caracter was 16 and at university romancing over 18 year old. also for a book set at a university there was not really any academia - could have been set anywhere.

THAT ENDING WAS INCREDIBLE I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK... if you love a strong lead that goes through wonderful meaningful character development, a cast of complex characters, excellent world building and MAGIC, this is for you.

An intriguing and exciting retelling of an old legend. Brie is a wonderful character, that feels down to earth and real, her emotional journey as one that I will keep with me for awhile. The only downside is that sometimes it is unclear what is happening. They’re part of the story that feel a little bit disjointed. I would recommend this for anyone wanting an adventure story that touches on generational trauma and the strong well to heal from the past.
