Joachim Ringelnatz, der selber jahrelang zur See fuhr, versammelt darin schwarzhumorige Balladen und Moritaten, mit denen er in den zwanziger und dreißiger Jahren auf der Kabarettbühne auftrat. Neben Ringelnatz' Seemannsgedichten finden sich auf diesem Hörbuch Kuriositäten aus der Gedichtsammlung "Die Schnupftabakdose" und den "Turngedichten", die surreal anmutenden Erzählung "Der arme Pilmartine" und anderes mehr.
