Publisher's Summary

Some men are forged in fire.

Quentin d’Arcy may have survived a showdown with a god, but now he faces something far more terrifying: falling in love. And the secret he’s hiding from Laurence could burn them both.

Kane Wilson says he wants to make a better world - one in which psychics are out and proud without fear of reprisal or hatred - but there’s a trail of bodies buried in his past. Kane’s power is his words. When he commands, everyone obeys. They have no choice.

Everyone except Quentin. As the only person in San Diego immune to Kane’s mind-control, he is the psychic community’s last line of defense against Wilson’s murderous schemes.

The fire has been foreseen.

Quentin’s survival hasn’t.

Fans of Sarah J. Maas and Leigh Bardugo won’t want to miss what audiences have described as Percy Jackson for adults.

Stick With It

The first book was tough. It was well written and had good prose. the problem was that there wasn't as much action as you find in this genre. Stick with it. not only is the second book much better, you feel like there is rhyme and reason for the strange idiosyncrasies of the characters. the characters grow and they have very real honest conversations about everyday things as well as the supernatural. and yes Seb Yarrick says things funny. i almost held it against him however I realized he isn't American. instead of focusing on the strange pronunciation, imagine that it is how Americans speak in this world. yarrick does a masterfuk job with the main characters, you can feel their pain and their love. all in all an excellent performance.

Much better than the first.

The first book was slow to start with so much exposition it became boring early on. It was also all over the place. This book was much better - with good pacing and feels like it was edited. The dialogue in the first book was written like a caricature for most of the characters. Here, the dialogue feels a bit better - although, Im not sure I know any LGBTQ men that call each other "baby." It seems rather retro - like late 70's - 80's.

love this series

I'm really enjoying getting to know Quentin and Lawrence and watching them learn more about themselves. I'm excited (and certain clues have a made me a bit nervous) about what will happen next. But they're well written books and I'm excited to see what will happen next

Slow burn

Oh this is the slowest of slow burns. I’m really digging the story. I highly recommend this series.

Explosive!

I was not expecting that! The writer really knows how to grab a subject like a terrier and not let it go!! I love how the characters are developing and the introduction of new ones is inspiring. I really care about these guys! I want them to get it together!! Quentin has a lot of tricks, and secrets, up his sleeve. I can't wait to see how this develops!! Again great narration which breathes life and passion into the characters.

Enjoyable story

Interesting story with likeable characters and good narration. There are a few things that don't make sense but I expect that they'll be covered in future books.
