Kitty is gifted land in the far north of New South Wales. Life at the northern property is full of hardships - however, Kitty's strength of will and belief in herself give her the courage most women of her time never realise they have. A decided thorn in her side is the arrogant and patronising Miles Grayson, owner of the adjourning run. He wants her gone so he can have her land, but he wants her even more.

The story started out well but became ponderous. I found it distracting, the readers mispronunciation of place names and other words. The voice became irritating and I couldn’t finish it.

This story was slow and boring and Kitty’s hatred and venom directed at her neighbour was a bit
hard to take. She might have been born into upper class but she sure didn’t learn grace or how to subdue her bad temper. I stopped reading at her violent, graphic encounter with her neighbour.
I’m sorry I bought the 3 books together as after that episode I don’t want to read further if that’s what the rest of the book and following one might be like.
I wouldn’t recommend it.
