Publisher's Summary

Gus Lynch is directing the Youth Theatre through a rehearsal. The cast is in place, but the female lead, Gabriella Paston, is missing. Later that evening her body is discovered in the boot of Gus' car. Detective Inspector Stephen Ramsay and Sergeant Gordon Hunter are assigned to head the murder enquiry.

Meanwhile, violence is escalating on the Starling Farm Estate as police battle to contain the latest outbreak of joyriding. Is the death of Gabriella connected to the events at Starling Farm? When another death occurs, investigations suggest a possible link. Ramsay realises what could have provoked someone to kill...and kill again.

Not For Me

Although I like the Ann Cleeves books I found the narration on this too fast and bland. It was difficult to get into the story as it seemed to be read as if the narrator was bored and wanted to get the story off as quick as possible. I hope others enjoy this much more than I have.

Strange Title

An enjoyable story and a surprising outcome. It was a shame that the narrator spoke so fast that it took the edge off the plot

Pitch perfect narration of imaginative twisting tale

The narrator is so good at accents - Geordie and Welsh to name but two - that this clever unusual thriller holds attention from start to finish. The pace is good, a professional actor aware of how to hold the listener subtly as well as explicitly. Fine combination and more please.
