Publisher's Summary

Katy Carter knows she's no domestic goddess: she's scatterbrained, she needs a fire extinguisher at the ready when she's cooking and she daily falls off the diet wagon. But that doesn't stop her fantasising about a hero to call her own. And Katy thinks she's found him in fiancé James, a charming, high-flying city banker.

So why, then, does Katy find herself scribbling steamy historical romances every spare moment she gets and daydreaming about becoming a published author when she ought to be paying attention in staff meetings?

As her wedding day looms, Katy determines to become a wife James can be proud of and employs the help of her best friend, Oliver, to impress James' colleagues and family. But despite best laid plans, the pair set off a hilarious train of events that leads Katy on a crazy journey through celebrity, chaos and makeovers and, finally, into the arms of her hero.

Good but not great

Lots of repeated phrases, parts of the story just didn’t quite make sense to me, a bit inconsistent. I liked her other book better.

Pretty average.

Pretty frustrating main character with a very predictable ending. It was also very long , however I did listen until the end .

Dribble

I only listened to all of it hoping I would increase the stars I rated, but in fact I decreased them. Had potential but didn't reach them.

Good elements with poor execution

There were far too many cliches for my taste, eg the heroine literally has to say two words to resolve a huge misunderstanding but is prevented twice and the misunderstanding continues. That’s just frustrating.

The narrator was very good and the humour good fun but the whole lacked cohesion and hear for me.

Repetitive and contradictory

This story is predictivr, repetitive and contradictory. I found the overall style spoke down to the reader, I wouldn't recommend it.
