Publisher's Summary

Katy Carter knows she's no domestic goddess: she's scatterbrained, she needs a fire extinguisher at the ready when she's cooking and she daily falls off the diet wagon. But that doesn't stop her fantasising about a hero to call her own. And Katy thinks she's found him in fiancé James, a charming, high-flying city banker.

So why, then, does Katy find herself scribbling steamy historical romances every spare moment she gets and daydreaming about becoming a published author when she ought to be paying attention in staff meetings?

As her wedding day looms, Katy determines to become a wife James can be proud of and employs the help of her best friend, Oliver, to impress James' colleagues and family. But despite best laid plans, the pair set off a hilarious train of events that leads Katy on a crazy journey through celebrity, chaos and makeovers and, finally, into the arms of her hero.

Good elements with poor execution

There were far too many cliches for my taste, eg the heroine literally has to say two words to resolve a huge misunderstanding but is prevented twice and the misunderstanding continues. That’s just frustrating.

The narrator was very good and the humour good fun but the whole lacked cohesion and hear for me.

Just loved it

Loved this breath of fresh air! Loved the funny chaotic Katy Carter. Loved the well written story which carried me along Katy’s ups and downs. Loved the insight into the different characters. Loved the reader who breathed life into every word. Just loved it!

Brilliant Narrator

Emma Fenney was brilliant at narrating all the different voices. This is the first Ruth Saberton book that I have listened too and I really liked it. Chicklit is always a nice easy listen, the story was good. The only thing that drove me mad was when the writer kept putting in "and all that gubbins" totally worth a read though Epson "included"

Definitely worth a listen.

Great read really enjoyed the story ... funny and sad ... a bit drawn out in places but still a good listen.

Dim protagonist, foreseeable plot

The protagonist was unrealistically and frustratingly slow on the uptake, the plot was slow paced and also unrealistic, and the book ended just when the really interesting story began in the epilogue.

Story for 12 year old

Honestly this is like listening to a story from Bravo Girl!
This is just so painful… I have not finished it yet but I found myself fast forward so I can see if it gets any better… unfortunately it doesn’t…
Narration is really good but that’s about all that is good about this book!
