For psychologist Leo Meyer, peace and comfort come through strict discipline and order. It’s one of the reasons he was chosen by Julian Lodge to be the Dom in residence at his club. His time there has been a near-perfect existence filled with a daily routine free from the chaos of emotional attachment. With the exception of his brief relationship with Shelley McNamara, that is. Tense switch frustration
I didn't love this one. The main female's narrative was done in the present tense, and the main dude's was in past tense. I found that so distracting that it was really difficult to stay immersed in the story. Although other reviewers mentioned they didn't like Ryan West's reading, I actually thought it was good, and the tense switching was what I didn't like. The storyline overall was okayish, though somewhat unbelievable as a part of the MT world (showing up to the club already dressed, somehow being able to afford beachfront property in Malibu)...maybe it was just that it didn't seem well researched? I'd still listen to it to not miss out on a MT storyline, but I wish I would have been more mentally prepared that it would be one to slog through.

Narration was weird
I generally don't write reviews, but this one I had to say something about. It was a good Stark story and I really liked it, but the narration was weird. I really didn't like a male voice narrate a female part. At times, it got confusing as to whose point of view it was. When a female narrates both parts, they can make their voice different enough to know who is speaking, but a rich, deep male voice for the whole thing just confused me. His voice and narration were awesome for the male part, just not the female part.

Nice Suspenseful and Romantic Novella ☺
My 1st novella of J. Kenner and I enjoyed it immensely. I've always enjoy stories on "The Whodunnit" and with adding romance to it makes it even better. "Justify Me" definitely filled my appetite and hitting both on the suspense and on the romance + giving me the HEA that I always look for in the end.

Dreadful
As another review mentioned the past/present tenses were impossible to follow. Also first person truly didn't work for me. I couldn't make it past chapter 5, all the while thinking " Lexi must have been high when she wrote this". Of course, I hadn't paid attention to who actually wrote it because it listed under Masters and Mercenaries. And as always, Mr. Ryan's cadence is too slow for me. If it hadn't been included in Audible Escape I would most certainly returned it.

Hard to follow
I couldn't make it past chapter 6. The narrator's voice is great for the male role however, there is no change to differentiate between male and female characters. Example : a chapter or paragraph starts with the narrator speaking in first person . He is speaking along then only with the content did I realize he was speaking as the female character. I tried. Too much work to follow and enjoy the storyline .

Why a Male performer?
Generally Ryan West is one of my favorite narrators, but this was a bit awkward. The story line is written in a first person from the heroines point of view, but Ryan is reading it using his normal male voice. It made the characters switch in my head. Tasha and Riley get confused because he uses the same voice as Riley as he did narrating Tasha's though and actions, but her voice is feminine. It's too concentration when the scene was between the two of them. I picked the book as an offshoot of Lexi Blake's Masters and Mercenaries series. On that point it worked fine. This is just one that I'd have preferred to have performed by a female or duet or just have read the book myself.

I said, he said???! Huh?
I read several of the reviews for this book, and I have to agree that it can be confusing at times, especially in the beginning; I actually had to restart the book (in middle of Chapter 2) before I realized what was going on with the characters. This was definitely not the fault of the narrator. The problem with this book is that the writer jumps from first-person to third-person throughout the story! I actually found myself changing the pronouns in my head as I listened to the story just so I could keep the story's point of view straight! Had the whole book been in first-person, then I agree that it probably should have been a female narrator to tell the story because of all of the inner monologue... had it been completely in third-person, then Ryan West is definitely the person for the job. Anyone who has listened to Lexi Blake's Masters and Mercenaries series knows what a phenomenal job Ryan West does portraying both the male and female characters. And as a female listener, I know having such a deep, seductive voice adds to the enjoyment of the romance and strength of the danger depicted in these novels.

Couldn't even finish the first few chapters
This may or may not be a great book, but having a female character read by a man rarely works out. Between him reading the story quickly.. without much pause, emotion, or feeling, and switching between characters rapidly without much of a voice change made it impossible to keep up with the characters. I was completely lost almost immediately due to the above issues, and spent more time trying to figure out what the heck was going on or what character was "speaking". Highly suggest getting a new reader for this audiobook.
