Publisher's Summary

Hyper-spiritual approaches to finding God's will don't work. It's time to try something new: Give up.

Pastor and author Kevin DeYoung counsels Christians to settle down, make choices, and do the hard work of seeing those choices through. Too often, he writes, God's people tinker around with churches, jobs, and relationships, worrying that they haven't found God's perfect will for their lives. Or, even worse, they do absolutely nothing, stuck in a frustrated state of paralyzed indecision, waiting...waiting...waiting for clear, direct, unmistakable direction.

But God doesn't need to tell us what to do at each fork in the road. He's already revealed his plan for our lives: to love him with our whole hearts, to obey His Word, and after that, to do what we like.

No need for hocus-pocus. No reason to be directionally challenged. Just do something.

great book

Kevin Deyoung has written an excellent concise and honest way to view God's will for your life - that is making decisions based on Biblical wisdom as opposed to seeking special revelation through unbiblical mystical means

Amazing!

I first read this book a few years ago when I graduate high school, and it changed my life. I just listened to it again, it’s amazing! Kevin DeYoung is a fantastic author who has obviously spent years studying the Word of God. I recommend this book to everyone, especially those who are on their way to adulthood.

Discouraging - Better Books Out There

What did you like best about Just Do Something? What did you like least?

I like the point this is trying to make about doing something and not getting stuck. I feel like it could be helpful for someone having a hard time with procrastination. I did not like that the author assumes God doesn't talk to us more often. This contradicts what you learn in church and bible study where God we learn to decipher God's voice in the small things. The point of Christianity is to develop a relationship with Jesus. Why would you then not accept to have regular communication like you would with any other close friend?I also didn't like the author stating that when looking for a partner in life, you shouldn't find someone new to faith or that has been divorced. That is a very close minded statement in my opinion and feels discouraging for someone who is either new to the faith or divorced.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

It was a little lack luster. I felt more discouraged than anything.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Yes, this part was fine.

Do you think Just Do Something needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No

Was instructed to read this by a mentor

I loved every piece of valuable insight in this book. What a blessing. It sparked my interest in writing, as I’ve felt nudged by God to do so. That being said, the timing couldn’t have been more perfect, and I attribute that solely to God. I really liked Adam’s clarity and intentionality within each chapter.

This book is gold. Because of God.

And the choice you made to write it Adam =)

What every Christian needs to read

If your in your late teens twenties thirties this book is perfect for you.

This book was suggested to me by a friend after I was discussing some issues I was having with him.

For today's Christian walking in God's will is a familiar worry or concern.

Kevin writes clearly and puts his points across that God's will isn't actually that hard to do.
It's our humaneness and culture that makes us think unnecessarily.

The last couple of chapters are really useful to those searching for the right job and the right wife or husband.
