Publisher's Summary

The story of the legendary musician’s incredible last year.

John Lennon 1980 traces the powerful, life-affirming story of the former Beatle’s remarkable comeback after five years of self-imposed retirement. Lennon’s final pivotal year would climax in several moments of creative triumph as he rediscovered his artistic self in dramatic fashion. With the bravura release of the Double Fantasy album with wife, Yoko Ono, he was poised and ready for an even brighter future only to be wrenched from the world by an assassin’s bullets. John Lennon 1980 isn’t about how the gifted songwriter died, but rather, about how he lived.

Interesting exploration of the lives of John and Yoko

I listened to this book with a heavy heart as I knew how it ends, as all John’s fans do- however I learned so much more about who he was as a man as he prepared to again embrace a more public life and reinvigorate his career. Great to hear how much he wanted Yoko to be understood and her art to be embraced. So little ego to him in his later years- midlife but the end of his, so cruelly, and senselessly snatched from him as it was!

Fascinating and heart breaking.

In this book you feel you really get to know and understand the real John Lennon and his creativity.Though we know how it ends, it’s still devastating.
Very well written and researched. A sensitive tribute. Highly recommended .
