Jane Eyre follows the emotions and experiences of eponymous Jane Eyre, her growth to adulthood, and her love for Mr. Rochester, the byronic master of Thornfield Hall. The novel contains elements of social criticism, with a strong sense of morality at its core, but is nonetheless a novel many consider ahead of its time given the individualistic character of Jane and the novel's exploration of sexuality, religion, and proto-feminism.

Would you listen to Jane Eyre again? Why?

Absolutely. I had tried, on multiple occasions, to read this novel in hard copy form, and failed each time I attempted it within the last 10 years. Emma Messenger's reading was so good, I began reading the hard copy concurrently after about an hour of listening. Her delivery made the story easy to take in and the accents were great. She provided emphasis where necessary and made the whole experience very enjoyable.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes -- and frequently took half an hour to sit and do nothing but listen and fold laundry.

Finally -- I made it through Jane Eyre!

The narration is awful and sounds so dramatically angry through the whole book no matter who is speaking. But an excellent story nonetheless.
