About this listen

Ivor the Engine is set in the picturesque Welsh countryside, where Ivor, a small steam engine, works for The Merioneth and Llantisilly Railway Traction Company Limited. His driver, Jones the Steam, is his loyal companion, and together they deliver goods and navigate the charming Welsh valleys. Ivor, however, has a dream beyond hauling cargo: he wants to sing with the local choir.

The enchanting sound of the choir from the previous evening plays over and over in Ivor's mind. He can't stop thinking about it and dreams of joining them. However, when Ivor plays his whistle for the choir master, it's just a single note. The choir master kindly tells Ivor that one whistle is not enough to sing in the choir. Determined, Ivor resolves to find a way to produce more musical notes.

This audio book tells the story, taken from the very first black-and-white TV series braodcast in the 1950s . Created by Oliver Postgate and Peter Firmin, this wonderful series remains a timeless favourite, remembered by generation after generation.
