This book is well written, easy to listen to and accessible, and is written with a good balance of scientific and personable wording.

However, I was recommended this book as someone WITH ADHD by the doctor I'm working with. While this book may be about us, it doesn't feel like it's for us. So much is written for the people who are partnered with someone who has ADHD, so it's more geared toward how to put up with us. While that may not be the intention, the wording, voice or even just how many sob stories are in there give that impression which is really disheartening for the people with ADHD who want honest guidance in tricky parts of relationships.

There is very little applicable or actionable advice for people with ADHD in there, which is really frustrating since I've been told by several professionals to read this book now. I'm wondering if THEY have.

I'm sure this book is very helpful for the partners, but it's just another dead end for me in my search for official, researched, comprehensible literature on ADHD relationships.

Good, but literally not for me.

Both my husband and I have been diagnosed with ADHD in the last 6 months. As such, making sense of our symptoms and figuring both where the ADHD starts and we as people end is challenging. When the author takes such a dim view of people with ADHD, it really becomes difficult to listen through what is being said where every symptom or issue bring mentioned make you feel like a burden on your partner, or that your partner is a problem to be solved. There's no room for compassion in this book. Also, the chapters are not labelled in the app and so as I've done some reading already on the causes and presentations of ADHD, I can't skip the chapters that address these topics - especially since there's over 14 hours of content.
I really wanted to enjoy this, truely. But it just leaves me feeling worse about my situation and makes me wonder what hope there really is to turn my family's life around especially considering we were diagnosed so late in life. I'll look for a title next that will both constructively help while not making me feel like a burden heaped onto those around me, making me feel even more isolated than before I started listening.

I don't know who hurt Gina, but she's really mean
