Summary

Everyone expected Violet Sorrengail to die during her first year at Basgiath War College–Violet included. But Threshing was only the first impossible test meant to weed out the weak-willed, the unworthy, and the unlucky.

Now the real training begins, and Violet’s already wondering how she’ll get through. It’s not just that it’s grueling and maliciously brutal, or even that it’s designed to stretch the riders’ capacity for pain beyond endurance. It’s the new vice commandant, who’s made it his personal mission to teach Violet exactly how powerless she is–unless she betrays the man she loves.

Although Violet’s body might be weaker and frailer than everyone else’s, she still has her wits–and a will of iron. And leadership is forgetting the most important lesson Basgiath has taught her: Dragon riders make their own rules.

But a determination to survive won’t be enough this year.

Because Violet knows the real secret hidden for centuries at Basgiath War College–and nothing, not even dragon fire, may be enough to save them in the end.

Adapted from the novel and produced with a full cast of actors, immersive sound effects and cinematic music!

I thoroughly- THOROUGHLY- enjoyed this series. I'm currently re-listening to it and just have to say kudos to the author, kudos to the actors but let's not forget the editors and FX/music people. From footsteps in the very first chapter to the timing of blades being unsheathed and dragon wing beats in the distance has made this the fastest series I have listened to yet. I'm ADHD and love books but always struggle half way through, sometimes forgetting they exist.. but Fourth Wing and Iron flame- dramatized audiobooks were serious entertainment.

The storyline is fantastic, the perfect amount of action and romance, friendship quarrels and political issues and lastly... tragedy.. to keep the listener/reader engaged.

The voice actors were all incredible and I really appreciated that it was read like dialogue in a movie, especially who ever played Violet. Every sentence was loaded with emotion and did not feel like she was reading from the book. I have the hard copy and had to read and listen at the same time to check I had the same book!

Better than I could have imagined. Now ever other audiobook is ruined and I'll never be satisfied.

The Fourth Wing/Iron Flame dramatized audio books have ruined all other audiobooks for me.

I love this series so much that after reading the books I had to get the audible, and I wasn't disappointed.
The dramatized version is exquisitely perfect. Each voice actor brings the story to life, and with the accompaniment of the background noises it is easy to visualise it like a movie as you listen. very much recommend these books. and even more so the dramatized versions. Just magical.

Bloody fantastic story
