Only finished to determine if narrator was drunk
I kinda want Catherine O'Connor to orate my funeral. Her part monotone, part vocal fry, disinterested voice and her random starts and stops give the listener the impression that there's so much more bubbling under the surface. I kept imagining the possible scene in her apartment as she recorded this audio book. Her hair, a haphazard emotional gauge, part despondent bun, part shriek of mania. The bottles of decent but affordable Chardonnay powering her through to that deadline. Her voice sounds like my life has felt at times, a witches brew of emotion that has been watered down by life's disappointments but still contains a splash of sporadic potency.
The book itself is fine. It seems I'm already somewhat of an intuitive eater so I didn't gain much information I didn't already know. But it's always nice to be reminded that obsessing over body image and diet is a waste of precious life.
Not even close to the biggest waste of time I've exposed myself to (I've read every Twilight book). And ultimately worth it to laugh, feel concern and attempt to google search the quixotic Catherine O'Connor. I raise a Chardonnay bottle in your honor, gurl, cuz in 2020, who needs a glass.
