A good intro to how to study the Bible
A solid introduction on methods for understanding and applying the Bible. It would be nice if audible could add names to the chapters in the app rather than just stating chap 1, chap 2... The chapters are: 1. The Need for Hermeneutics 2. The History of Interpretation 3. Literary and Social Scientific Approaches to Interpretation 4. The Canon and Translations 5. The Interpreter 6. The Goal of Interpretation 7. General Rules of Hermeneutics: Prose 8. General Rules of Hermeneutics: Biblical Poetry 9. Genres of the Old Testament 10. Genres of the New Testament 11. Using the Bible Today 12. Application

Good but basic and limited
Good content delivered from a scholarly and conservative perspective. Fairly basic overview. Anyone who has taken a class in biblical interpretation will be familiar with most of the content. This class does not detail how to preach or teach the Bible, but only how to interpret and apply with an emphasis on interpretation.

Wonderful resource
I needed this book for a class, and it was among many, many other books I needed to read. I bought the audible version in addition to the physical book so I wouldn’t be completely house bound during my (online) studies. I have learned so much from listening to the authors peak about methods and reasons and historical application. I highly recommend this and their physical book. The physical book is a little different. The audio version is like a lecture that accompanies the book.

Cut too much from the lectures
this could have been a great lecture series, but they cut too much from the lectures and so it's incomplete and inconsistent, leaving many questions in what's being presented.

a good buddy Bible study
is the great book I like the lot of the chips they gave us but a lot of the deep explanation of what scripture means and how to interpret it within its context I think is critical to people these days instead of taking the word and take it out of context and then applying it whenever they feel like it meet their needs
