 Love hotels ("rabuho") are mainly hotels used by couples to be intimate. 「ラブホテル（ラブホ）」は、おもにカップルが愛し合うために利用するホテルのこと。宿泊以外に、短時間の滞在や休憩でも利用できます。
こうした施設は江戸時代からありましたが、現在のようなラブホテルは1970年代に登場しました。
当時のラブホテルには、城や豪華客船のような建物も多く、回転ベッドやウォーターベッド、ミラーボールを備えた部屋や、鏡張りの部屋などもありました。
今では一流デザイナーの手がけたおしゃれなホテルも増え、カラオケやプール、エステティックサロンなど充実した設備を売りにするホテルもあります。
