現在は、南北約800ｍの道の両側に約170店舗がひしめく、日本一の道具街。食器や調理器具から看板、制服まで、飲食店に関するものなら何でも揃うといわれています。
かっぱ橋道具街は、主にプロの料理人を相手に発展を遂げてきましたが、どの店も入りづらい雰囲気はなく、一般の人々も気軽に買い物ができます。
