Publisher's Summary

Will he secure his future by ruining hers, or will she ruin his plans by securing him? A new twist on the old fortune-hunter plot puts an impoverished earl in a position to gain his fortune only by ruining an innocent's reputation without offering marriage. The innocent he's selected, however, has no plans to settle for anything less than marriage and will go to almost any length to secure him.

With no other means for an income, the impoverished Andrew Black, earl of Townson, makes an agreement that will put a definite end to his eight-year poverty streak. But in order to gain his fortune, he must do only one simple thing: ruin an innocent young lady's reputation enough to make her flee to America.

Brooke Banks isn't interested in marriage, or so she thinks. She came to London to have a good time, and that's exactly what she's doing. Widely known for her tendency to flout the rules, she suspects nothing when a handsome stranger appears on her doorstep.

Thirteen days, a handful of kisses, and one scandalous situation later, Andrew and Brooke will have to choose to stick to their original plans or decide if a life together is worth the risk.

Intentions of the earl

This historical romance is pretty wonderful. I enjoyed the characters and the predicaments that they found themselves in.

At little long and boring...

It could have been shortened up a bit or some exciting elements added. Narration was good.

Lack Luster

The story lacked color and imagination and the characters were shallow. I did not care for the narrator and think a more expressive voice would have improved the story telling.

Slow and a little boring

What disappointed you about Intentions of the Earl?

I read the series after this one and thought it was funny. Especially with Olivia acting like a spoiled brat. This book was slow an dplodding with nothing exciting or interesting. The only audible review indicated that it was okay, and that is the best you can say about it.

Has Intentions of the Earl turned you off from other books in this genre?

Yes, I am totally turned off by boring lack-luster books, but I am not sure if it is a genre!

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Michelle Ferguson?

R. Landor. She is one of the best. Her ability would have been excellent for the English/American accents. The narrator was boring and did little to enliven the book. Sometimes you can't blame a narrator if the story is not well written.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Intentions of the Earl?

I think the problem with this book is the dialogue lacks wit and excitement. Even the use of words. There is a line that highlights this. The author wrote " he looked at her like he was thirsty" . A good author would have used the word hungry to illicit strong need. The author does very little with dialogue . When you consider that with American characters, there is more opportunity to write less formal interactions. The dialogue is just very boring and passion-less.

Any additional comments?

This is not a new plot, so it needed something to distinguish it from the average book. It just did not do that. I just finished reading a Elizabeth hoyt & Loretta Chase novel. There dialogue and plot twists make the listening experience fly by. This book dragged, it made the time seem twice as long.
