Publisher's Summary

Former mercenary Bull Krebbs now heads up security at his nightclub in Harrisburg, PA. Working the door night after night, he's seen it all. Though tough on the outside, he's a little hurt that people find him unapproachable. Then he pulls a cute twink out of line to perform a random search, and he's surprised when the guy giggles and squirms.

Zach Spencer, graphic artist, twink, and seriously ticklish, isn't intimidated by Bull. He's in awe, and when Bull saves Zach from being trampled on the dance floor, Zach finds his inspiration for the superhero in his graphic novel.

Soon Zach wants more and makes his move by asking Bull on a date. Though small, he has a backbone of steel. He'll need it-their happily ever after is thwarted at every turn, including by Bull's interloping mother showing up unannounced and enemies from Bull's past threatening to pull him to the other side of the world.

Nicely done!!

It met my Andrew grey expectations.. Love the way he writes it's a bummer the narrator was a bit of a let down, at times the characters sounded as though they were a bit stupid and slow only because of how he has narrated the scene and it wasn't just one character it was all of them ,don't get me wrong he wasn't the worst I've listened to but not even close to the best.. I was a bit surprised he didn't use Sean Crisden I think he narrates Andrew stories the best because of the characters Andrew has in his books..
Nice easy story line to follow bit of action thrown in and always the HEA..
All in all great start to series just hope the rest are going to be in audible

Really good story

Would you consider the audio edition of Inside Out to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the book, but the narration of the story was really good.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Inside Out?

When the two main characters meet.

What does John Solo bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He has a warm and pleasant voice and makes the characters come alive. I really enjoyed listening to him.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The book made me laugh. Nothing was really extreme just very pleasant.

Any additional comments?

This is one of the books that I will listen to again and again. I may even get the e-book version one day.

Not Just What You See

Listened to the audio version and the narrator was great. I especially loved Bulls "voice." This is a great story where Bull is a big strapping guy but has his hurts and vulnerabilities. Zach is seen as geeky and smaller but he has developed an inner strength and the ability to kick ass when necessary. They each fill a void in the other. They face a lot in a short time but come out stronger.

Enjoyed the book.

I loved Bull and Tristan’s story. There was really a story! Story could have been a little longer, but that’s me, I like long books.

a light, cute story

Any additional comments?

Just love the Bull character!!! Bull, he may be growly but he really is such a good guy. Big, strong and a bouncer at a club, his inside is very different to his outward appearance. "He's like, hard as rock on the outside, but like melty chocolate on the inside." Bull has had his heart broken and has a hidden past.
Zach, he is young but goes for what he wants and he isn't afraid of Bull's intimidating exterior. Zach brings out the best in Bull with his passionate outlook on life. "I love how you throw yourself into whatever you like. Whether it's dancing, your drawings, your food, you immerse yourself in what you do. That's attractive." Zach is also dealing with the pain of losing his parents and being rejected from his community for being gay.

Fun

Definitely enjoyable- rather exceeded my expectations. John Solo did a fabulous job with the narration. I might even try books 2 and 3 for fun

I wanted to like this

I really did. I couldn't decide if the narrator made the writing sound bad, or if the writing and the narrator were bad. The storyline in and of it's isn't bad, but the delivery was all wrong. Like the story was rushed when she was writing it.

Campy and upbeat

Inside Out is an enjoyable, somewhat zany, romance between comic artist & bouncer/bar owner. The tickling meet-cute is cute. The plot is over the top but not over-involved. Debated between 3 & 4 stars - another cute, thoughtful bit in the epilogue bumped it up.

I didn’t really feel all the feels but it was good enough to keep reading. While the characters felt a little caricaturish, how some of the character arcs evolved surprised me a little, in a good way. Also how many characters got arcs. If you read it as camp, it goes down easier. I thought the bad ex “FIL” was a Colombian drug lord until he turned out to be a middle eastern sheik. The intermediary guy seemed like he was doing a telenovela spy imitation. If campy spies with no situational awareness will drive you batty, maybe move along. If not, enjoy.

The prose was basic. “They left the house. Then they got in the car.” basic. But it wasn’t bad. There were several scuffles and some campy drama. Bull & Zach lived richer lives by the end and the author got to kvetch about weird alcohol laws.

Steam factor is pretty low but there is on-page m/m naked sexytimes & my scale for steam may have more room on the upper end than yours. No concerns about care or consent between the main characters, which is always good news for romance.

I partly got the book, thru the Audible Romance Package, because I like the narrator. It was ok but not top tier, maybe because of the wooden prose? But I had just slogged thru 30 hours of dark fantasy and this book, while having some nasty/mean elements, was overall cheery enough to lighten my mood.

Opposites attract but don't combust

I have enjoyed Andrew Grey's farm series books and a few others. This title appeared in my Romance package and since I generally like the author and the narrator's voice was likeable I added it to my library.
I thought the story was good, but not anything great. I liked the age and size difference between the MC's and their back stories were good. I thought the intrigue of the story line was the weak part. Mr. Grey is good with the love portion of his stories but the military for hire aspect did not have a realism that authors that specialize in that have.
The narration was great.
