Publisher's Summary

Rescued from captivity by a group of rather intimidating Kordolians, Noa finds herself recovering at a strange facility in the middle of the desert. SynCorp's medical experiments have left her with an impossible ability she can't control, and nobody really seems to know how to help her. She's fragile and shattered, a mere shadow of her former self, and she has nowhere else to go.

She doesn't know what to make of the Kordolians, especially when she can't stop their thoughts from leaking into her mind. The silver-skinned warriors are both terrifying and protective, and when she encounters a dark, mysterious presence in the most unlikely of places, she realizes that at least one of them might possess abilities similar to her own.

The question is, does this intimidating being intend to help her, or harm her?

Contains mature themes.

There’s a reason this series became so popular

Well done characters and storyline puts this in the top 3 of the series. No.1 being the first book Dark Planet Warriors; but this is neck and neck with Out of Darkness for 2nd place.
Noa is trying to recover from Syncorp’s experimental surgery that resulted in her becoming telepathic. She struggles to keep out the voices, when she finds herself connecting with the Kordolian’s secret prisoner.
Ashrael is a Silent One, an assassin sent by the Kordolian Queen. When he connects with Noe telepathically, General Akkadian uses her to try and break Ash’s bond with his Mistress. Akkadian has a special mission in mind for Ash - kill Queen Vionn to stop the Imperial from sending agents that might kidnap or kill his wife Abbey or daughter Ami.
The connection between Noe and Ash becomes much stronger than anyone could guess; and appears to be the final piece in Akkadian’s plans to topple the ruling class on Kythia.
Macie does a pretty good job of narration.

Noah & Ashrail.

I not sure what the deal with the numbering of the books, but they seem to be all out of order. I checked the authors page and Audible has it right but I feel like the books 4. Out of Darkness, 5. Forged in Shadow and 7. Electric Heat all happen before 2. Dark Planet Falling, 3 Into the Light, and 6. Infinity’s Embrace. Overall a good book, and I now look forward to Kale’s and Reanna story. Narrator is good, wish they had male reader for all the stories. I would have liked to have them both for the whole series.

well let me say that Noa had the silent one

This was more than I was expecting. I loved Noa. She has a head full of others invading her space. She was once a gifted musician. Then she became a test subject for a company doing the unthinkable to humans and others. Then she was rescued and a whole new world of thoughts intruded on her. Among the chaos of the new situation she finds a little piece of heaven in the desert. The Silent One became the silence for her storm, but then he became the one trying to take over her mind. She proved that she was stronger than she ever would have guessed. She put a stop to that and made more for herself.

The Silent One was the assassin sent to kill and kidnap. He did not anticipate begin given a chance at something more than he was trained for. Then with that chance came more. He was there to be the bad guy, but turned into a hero.

Jillian Macie had made herself the voice of the Kordolian warriors. She makes this the characters come to life and feel familiar over the course of the series.

I have one gripe

I really like the books individually and the series plot overall the one problem I have is anytime the past female characters come up it's the cringiest dialog ever. I can't physically stand it, it seems so fake and overly sugary.

sixth verse, same as the first

By this book (book 6), the characters have run together. Same female narrator means all Kordolians and all of their love interests sound the same. Yes, there’s some attempt to distinguish them, but using a new narrator for new leads would really have helped.
Also, compared to the other books, this plot was tepid. Too cerebral. I just didn’t believe how quickly they fell in love.
But, what really got to me was the constant use of the “cock-whee.” Because that’s all I could think of after awhile (along with Beavis and Butthead saying “huh huh.... you said cock.” It would have made a great drinking game to drink with every Cock Wheee!
Least favorite of the series. Fortunately, the prior books were fun and action packed, so I’m still open to the next two.

Totally unique

This is part of the Dark Planet Warriors series. It is a very unique story, and I really liked it. This story focuses on a “Silent One”, a warrior who was blinded at birth and destined to be bound in silence and 100% obedience through compulsion, to the ruling elite through the use of what is described as the energy or life force of the universe [this has nothing to do with magic or evil]. He is an assassin. A tool. And he met his match when he tried to kill General Tarak. The heroine of our story is a savant pianist who has been abducted and invasively, surgically altered - by humans (the same humans who abducted Abbey when she was pregnant!). These two have immense power, and although he is highly trained, she has no clue how to control it. Sometimes in books built around people wielding strange energy forces the writing gets too abstract and hokey to enjoy, however, this story is written well enough that it is believable and highly entertaining. The end is wonderful but I won’t spoil it for you. Your should read it for yourself!

tA super exciting story that makes you keep reading into the night. Heroine & Hero are good and make a neat couple. Lots of surprises in here.

I can’t get enough of this series

As far as adult romances go, this series is my favorite so far. The storyline is amazing, the protagonists are amazing, and it’s just plain amazing. Did I mention it’s amazing? Anna Carven has managed to put together an erotic, yet intelligent series. I’d give it more stars if I could.
