One of the most beautiful and terrifying narratives of South America's conquest's history, namely, Chile's conquest in the 1500's.
The voice who reads the story is absolutely amazing! One of the reasons why I purchased the book. She is very versatile, able not only to act out as a youthful woman but also as an old lady in her last days.
I highly recommend it! I couldn't help having tears at the end. Valdivia's execution is devastating, the description is stark and unforgettable- his body mutilated, his spirit crushed. It's important to learn where we come from.
