About this listen

The story revolves around Marvin Miller, a man who is struggling to provide for his son after losing his job at a petroleum plant. Marvin's wife, Jessica, died giving birth to their son, Jeremiah, leaving Marvin to raise him alone. Marvin's desperation leads him to attempt to rob a convenience store, but the robbery is interrupted by Officer Gabriel Hebert. During the confrontation, the store owner, Claude Johnson, picks up Marvin's gun and threatens to shoot him. Officer Hebert, in defense of Marvin, shoots Claude, resulting in Claude's death.

The aftermath of the shooting is chaotic. Marvin is arrested and taken to jail, where he is attacked by other inmates. Meanwhile, Claude's family, including his widow Carolyn and his brothers Amos, Beau, and Dean, are furious and seek revenge. The Klan rallies in response to Claude's death, and tensions in the town escalate.

Siobhan Castor is appointed to represent Marvin. She faces threats and intimidation from the Klan. Despite the challenges, Siobhan remains determined to defend Marvin and seek justice.
