Story
All Systems Red is the tense first science fiction adventure novella in Martha Wells' series The Murderbot Diaries. For fans of Westworld, Ex Machina, Ann Leckie's Imperial Raadch series, or Iain M. Banks' Culture novels. The main character is a deadly security droid that has bucked its restrictive programming and is balanced between contemplative self-discovery and an idle instinct to kill all humans.

My name is Cade Ombra, and though I currently make my living as a mercenary wonderist, I used to have a far more noble-sounding job title—until I discovered the people I worked for weren't quite as noble as I'd believed. Now I'm on the run and my only friend, a homicidal thunder mage, has invited me to join him on a suicide mission against the seven deadliest mages on the continent. Time to recruit some very bad people to help us on this job.

Publisher's Summary
Brad Pitt's Plan B Entertainment and Warner Bros are set to bring YA sci-fi novel Illuminae to the big screen.
The year is 2575, and two megacorporations are at war over a planet that's little more than an ice-covered speck. Too bad nobody thought to warn the people living on it. With enemy fire raining down on them, Ezra and Kady have to make their escape on the evacuating fleet. But their troubles are just beginning. A deadly plague has broken out on one of the spaceships and is mutating, with terrifying results. Their ship's protection is seriously flawed. No one will say what is going on. As Kady hacks in to a tangled web of data to find the truth, it's clear only one person can help her: Ezra. And the only problem with that is they split up before all this trouble started, and she isn't supposed to be talking to him.
A fantastically original, heart-stopping adventure where everything is definitely more dangerous than it seems.

Now that's an audiobook
The performance of this audiobook is amazing. All the sound effects bring the book to life. It really adds to the creepyness that should be felt at times and the desperation.

When the only person you trust is a computer....
A totally original, gripping and engrossing novel. Told from multiple perspectives - human, mechanical and from reports and recordings, the overarching theme is of a hostile takeover of a planet inhabited by an illegal mining company that uses biological warfare that results in those exposed becoming raving, aggressive and murderous.
Survivors are rescued by a fleet of damaged space ships. However they are tracked by a lethal warship intent on obliterating all evidence of the deed and all survivors.
Tough, resourceful computer hacker Kady is the main protagonist along with AI (Aiden) - the computer who manipulates events so that the captains no longer trust him.
This is a complex and thought provoking story with strong characters facing life and death moral choices. The audio version is magnificent - with out of space music, electronic beeps and sound effects, mechanical voices, along with passion and urgency in the human narrators - an engrossing performance. Although tagged as YA fiction older readers will be equally engrossed.

WOW
I had heard about this book from so many people, but I never thought it would be as amazing as it was. The full cast was phenomenal and listening to the audiobook as I read through the book made for a thrilling experience. I can’t wait to read Obsidio.

I avoided this book for sometime, thinking it was young adult fiction. This is so much more . If you read only one science fiction this year, let it be this one.

This series is a modern day classic!
I stumbled upon this amazing book series because of an article in the Sydney Morning Herald about the authors. I immediately had to try the first book and within a couple of weeks I experience all three in the series. OMG, this is an absolutely incredible story, missing both classic and contemporary themes expertly, and beautifully written and even more extraordinary in the performances. I've been riveted and blown away by all of it and can't wait to listen to anything else from this outstanding writing pair!

If this is the state of youth fiction then look out the adults!
Brilliant journey, great setup. Had no idea where the story was going to land. Few clunky parts of current idioms or slang still being used hundreds of years into the future but overall gripping, great format and deserving of the praise. Ensemble performance as fantastic -
Made it very easy to identify characters.

Awesome production!
Loved the characters and concept, so well done. Slow build up but wasn’t an issue, once it got going it was breathtaking and hard to put down. Had to listen to the last couple of hours without distraction. Too good! Bring on more!
