Good read even if you are not a juggalo

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, its a great story about the struggles before ICP got famous and to some it might be inspiring, I recommend this to anyone.

What was one of the most memorable moments of ICP: Behind the Paint?

I got to say the time they were on the road and almost got killed by men in black robes, scary but a great story.

Have you listened to any of Violent J’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Music yes

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Any additional comments?

This is a great example of don't judge a book by its cover, just because its from ICP don't mean it's not a great story, love every single minute of it. All though the way Violent J talked was a little annoying sometimes, but it was worth it.

I'm no Juggalo but I'm definitely down with the clown

Violent J doesn't just read this, he tells it all to you In a way that makes even the most mundane portions of the book highly entertaining. I'm not big on their music, but I definitely believe ICP is a good thing for this world. Clown Love!

So.Much.Fun!

Even if your not a fan of the music, this is a story worth hearing. This will DRAG emotions out of you. Violent J will have you laughing, crying, inspired, and wanting more. Not just more of the story, but more for yourself. This is more than just an autobiography or account of the band's history, it's an adventure that you feel apart of. There's something for any kind of person in here.

Best story ever

This is the story of the Insane Clown Posse. At least 700 pages long. Buy the actual book, dont buy the audiobook until you get the hardcover. 5 out of 5.

hilariously fantastic!

this book is funny as hell, shocking, and just all-around totally amazing. It's so damn funny! Violent J narrates this book better than any computer-generated ass voice you normally hear that's boring as a sack of potatoes. he puts life love passion into this book and makes countless hilarious room works just the way he tells the story is the funniest shitt to me

Much better of a listen than I expected.

I was curious what makes one put tons of effort into being a psychopathic clown, and figured there had to be some good stories. This book had it all - about fathers not being there, gaining weight, achieving, and severe panic attacks - just to name a few. Yes, there are the music industry stories about Slash, Foo Fighters, Radiohead, groupies, etc.
Most in rap claim to “to keep it real”, which often results in fake boring junk. The sense of humor behind unreal horror rap, well, it can be scary and only a small minority will let themselves go there. Here’s the thing, if you couldn’t care less about ICP but you are fascinated by American culture, I cannot imagine the audio book version of this not holding your attention (I suggest audiobook or nothing with this particular selection - trust me, I love reading too - this works in the authors voice and he throws in a lot extra). This is better than Hillbilly Elegy - so much better - in getting behind the craziness poverty mixed with chaos can elicit. The stories range from laugh out loud entertaining to terrifying. It was also about very hard work, being true to yourself, and was surprisingly motivating.

Fresh as fuck

I love this book. I’ve been a fan of icp since riddlebox. This book made me appreciate the music that much more. I’m pulling out all my tapes and cd’s and a bucket of Faygo on ice and bumpin the tunes all over again

Job Bruce is a great story teller.

You don’t have to be a Juggalo to enjoy this book. It will of course be extra fresh if you are! Violent J shines, its not just like he’s reading his book. If feels like he’s sitting on the couch with you hanging out telling bomb ass cool stories.

Much respect Joe Bruce - the scrubs truly won. WHOOP WHOOP! MCL!

Thank you ICP!

Once upon a time I found a strange single EP called Hokus Pokus (headhunterz edition) and low and behold 20 years later I'm listening to an audio book by violent J. what started as mere curiosity spiralled into obsession as I was absorbed into the dark carnival. If you are a juggalo, you know what I mean. This book brought back so many feelings and emotions that I felt when I first discovered icp and their story. Thank you icp for all the incredible and fresh nostalgia. it answers many questions, explores J's upbringing, details the struggle, the success, the ups and downs, all while inspiring you to do the same. Failure is NOT an option.

I could listen to this book all day. I couldn't WAIT to go out for a walk or grab a bus or hop in my car. sadly I completed it but god Damn am I gonna listen to it again!

this book is Inspiring, real, beautiful, crazy, hilarious, sad, exciting, and very VERY FRESH

Thank you J amd Shaggy.

Much Irish clown love.

Pure Juggalo paradise within

This is the best book I have ever read and now heard. Listen as Violent J recalls his whole life in great detail. Pure honesty and insight lies within. The man is a genius, what an incredible story.

Somehow managed improve on the original text!

Having read the original hardback way back on release I wasn't sure what the audio could bring to the proceedings. However I was pleased to find violent J's narration, sound effects and occasional off book ramblings made for an entirely new experience. As a juggalo for the better part of 20 years I have an appreciation for all things ICP or psychopathic, but even for those who may not be such ardent fans there really is a lot to enjoy about this book.
It is long though....extremely long! But amazingly remained entertaining for it's almost day long running time!

Highly recommended to hardcore fans or even those with just a passing interest. I can't wait for the sequel!

A great story

I'm not a fan of their music, but if 50% of what was said is true - then a great rags to rich story - well Juggalo rich
