Publisher's Summary
Stop not doing what you know you should do!
You might think laziness, lack of willpower, and/or low motivation are to blame for the fact that you aren't achieving your goals. But fascinating research in the field of psychoneuroimmunology has revealed another, far more likely possibility. One with the potential to transform your life in a dramatic way.
The typical excuses for not doing what you know you should - I'm too stressed out... I don't have the time... I don't have the energy, etc. - are, in fact, manifestations of a complex, interconnected web of psychological, chemical, and neurological factors.
When activated, these factors can effectively paralyze you - making it virtually impossible for you to take the actions needed to create change in your life.
In other words, even if you're highly motivated...if you've got these internal circumstances operating, you aren't going to be able to do it.
But while the biochemistry may be complex, the solutions are actually quite simple.
Dr. Nick Hall reveals these solutions - and the fascinating science behind them - in I Know What to Do, So Why Don't I Do It? You'll learn:
- An extraordinarily powerful stress-fighting tool that very few people take advantage of.
- An easy way to instantly regain control and stay focused in an emotional emergency.
- Six things to do when you think you've taken on more than you can accomplish in the time you have.
- The mistake almost everyone makes when they organize their to-do list.
- A simple exercise that can instantly tell you which side of your brain is dominant at any given time.
- The first-thing-in-the-morning action that will literally reset your internal clock and have a profoundly positive impact on your energy level for the rest of the day (and it is SO easy to do!).

Fantastic
I almost didn't purchase this book because of some of the reviews. I'm not sure how it could be described as 'pompous' because I certainly didn't get that. A very knowledgeable author who presented his information clearly, with confidence and humour.

Absolutely amazing! So thought provoking
What a help...Explained in normal everyday language in a way that links scientific research with real life experiences. Offering some great explinations about who I really am why I think about things in my life the way I do and why I behave the way I do in certain situations, offering suggestions on how I can change or accept who I really am.
I am going to replay this again so I can pick up on all the information I may have missed the first time through.

Worth the investment
This is one of the most comprehensive and helpful book I have ever listened to on understanding and acquiring all the available knowledge and methods to overcome what holds you back from ‘being your best’. I have looked for the print version of the book without success. It is so rich in information that I was even contemplating typing it up myself. I’m not easily pleased with self-help book but this one has been the best so far and by far!
One last thing: his voice may put you off at first. But it only took a few minutes for me to forget about it.

Interesting but not what I was expecting
What did you like best about I Know What to Do, So Why Don't I Do It?? What did you like least?
Interesting approach. The authors pompous voice, his try hard humour and the poor recording quality and quite difficult to deal with.
What three words best describe Nick Hall’s performance?
Pompous, try hard
Was I Know What to Do, So Why Don't I Do It? worth the listening time?
Yes. Though it was tedious.

Can't listen to it
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
Improved Narration.
What was most disappointing about Nick Hall’s story?
Narration
How could the performance have been better?
Narration
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from I Know What to Do, So Why Don't I Do It??
I'd use a different narrator!
Any additional comments?
Do some peoples voice and the way they pronounce words grate on you. Well I have just purchased this audio book and started to listen to it, however, I don't think I can continue to listen to it as the narrator (who I believe is the author) simply grates on me.

Very informative and relatable
Very informative book that answered a lot of questions about stress and anxiety.
Also found the explanations on the brains behaviour very helpful, particularly the sections relating to PTSD.
Listening to the book was hard going up until the explanation of the left and right sides of the brain. After hearing this explanation I made sure I only listened when the left side of my brain was active. This made a huge difference to my listening experience.
I also found that watching something unstimulating on TV while listening made a difference (I watched a train travel across Australia).
I highly recommend this book to anyone who is trying to understand their behaviour as a result of Stress or PTSD.

This is why editors exist
I’ve not come across another audiobook so lazily put together. Some segments are amateurly recorded from a day seminar, while others in a studio. The contrast is unsettling. There is so much wasted time, with the author constantly attempting to assure the listener of his knowledge. Self-important anecdotes that are uninteresting, and chapters that meander almost pointlessly.
The whole thing smacks of an author who thinks he can do it all, and didn’t employ an editor.
I’ve never skipped so much of a book, and couldn’t tolerate it past halfway. By that time I realized what I needed to do, so I did it. Maybe it is helpful.
