Story
Melbourne's gangland war was an era dominated by murders, stings, hits, drug busts, corruption, and greed - inspiring best-selling books and even a popular TV series, Underbelly. It took the police a decade to curtail the violence and bring down criminal kingpins Carl Williams, Tony Mokbel, and their accomplices. When the police finally closed the case file, just how they really won the war, with the help of an unlikely police informer, would become a closely guarded secret and its exposure the biggest legal scandal of our time.

Story
In an incredible 25-year career as a homicide detective, Ron Iddles' conviction rate was 99 percent. Yet that only partly explains why Iddles is known to cops and crims alike as 'The Great Man'. Tough, inventive and incorruptible, stoic in the face of senseless horror yet unafraid to shed tears for a victim, Ron has applied his country cunning and city savvy to over 320 homicide cases - some of them the most infamous, compelling and controversial crimes in the nation's history. To the victims of crime, Ron is both a shoulder to cry on and an avenging angel.

Story
The police force can be a tough place for a woman, but Detective Superintendent Deborah Wallace rose to the top with grace, humour and an iconic sense of style. In her incredible 36-year career with NSW Police, Wallace took on murderers and drug suppliers and dismantled the state's most nefarious gangs. Tenacious, perceptive and sharp, Wallace commanded a range of police crime squads, bringing order to the Wild West of 1990s Cabramatta and busting criminal bikie gangs with Strike Force Raptor until her retirement in late 2019.

Story
This is the true story of Keith Banks, one of Queensland's most decorated police officers, and his journey into the drug scene as an undercover operative in the 1980s. In an era of corruption, often alone, with no backup, he and other undercover cops quickly learned to blend into the drug scene, smoking dope and drinking with targets, buying drugs and having dealers arrested. Very quickly, the lines were blurred between his identity as a police officer and the life he pretended to be part of.

In the early hours of 27th January 1996, after an evening spent celebrating at Club Bayview in the Perth suburb of Claremont, 18-year-old Sarah Spiers called a taxi to nearby Mosman Park. But when the cab arrived, she’d already gone. She was never seen again. Four months later, on 9th June 1996, 23-year-old Jane Rimmer disappeared from the same area, her body later found in bushland south of Perth. When the body of a third young woman, 27-year-old Ciara Glennon, was found north of the city, having vanished from Claremont in August 1997, it was clear a serial killer was on the loose.

This is my account of life as a hitman from someone who has been doing it for years. Hitmen commit heinous crimes virtually every day of the week and, in most instances, we don't even realise. I've been a killer for hire for more than 20 years now, but life as a fulltime professional assassin has never been easy. There have been close calls, failed attempts and a lot of looking over my shoulder. And now, I've decided to come clean and seek atonement for my life as a murderer and one of the most covertly dangerous men alive.

Story
Cold Case Investigations covers mostly murders or suspected murders - such as Ashley Coulston, Mr Cruel and Ivan Milat - with the victims as the focus. Not only because, criminologically speaking, the more you can learn about your victim the more you can extrapolate about the person who killed or abducted them, but also because they deserve their stories to be told. They deserve for people to know their names. They shouldn't just be someone's victim.

Story
In the Australia of the 1960s, '70s and '80s, armed robbers were the top of the criminal food chain. Their dash and violence were celebrated, and men like Ray Denning and Russell 'Mad Dog' Cox were household names long before Underbelly established Melbourne's gangland thugs as celebrities. Both were handsome, charismatic bandits who refused to bow to authority. Both were classified as 'intractable' in prison, and both escaped. Cox was the only man to escape from Katingal, Australia's only 'escape-proof' jail. Soon after he broke out, he tried to break in again and rescue his mates.

Publisher's Summary
Serial killings, child abductions, organized crime hits, and domestic murders. This is the memoir of a homicide detective.
Here I am: tall and broad, shaved head, had my nose broken three times fighting. Black suit, white shirt, the big-city homicide detective. I've led investigations into serial killings, child abductions, organized crime hits, and domestic murders. But beneath the suit, I've got an om symbol in the shape of a Buddha tattooed on my right bicep. It balances the tattoo on my left ribs: Better to die on your feet than live on your knees. That's how I choose to live my life.
As a cop, I got paid to catch killers, and I learned what doing it can cost you. It cost me marriages and friendships. It cost me my reputation. They tell you not to let a case get personal, but I think it has to. Each one has taken a piece out of me and added a piece, until there's only pieces.
I catch killers - it's what I do. It's who I am.
Gary Jubelin was one of Australia's most celebrated detectives, leading investigations into the disappearance of preschooler William Tyrrell, the serial killing of three Aboriginal children in Bowraville, and the brutal gangland murder of Terry Falconer. During his 34-year career, Detective Chief Inspector Jubelin also ran the crime scene following the Lindt Cafe siege, investigated the death of Caroline Byrne and recovered the body of Matthew Leveson. Jubelin retired from the force in 2019. This is his story.

Brilliant and devastating
Very well written book, engaged and taken into the story quickly so much so I finished it over 1 and a half days. I didn’t want it to end.
Devastating that a man that gave 34 years of his life to the detriment of himself and his family and happiness to help victims of crime was treated this way. Disgusting that He was put through this when he was doing his job above and beyond for over 3 decades and with this just protecting himself from someone who constantly lied. Speechless.

Nothing to do with True Crime
I couldn’t finish this book. It’s the only audible book I have never finished. It has nothing to do with the crimes he has solved, but everything to do with his ego. It’s a memoir about a guy who praises his wife (whom he eventually feels doesn’t understand his impact on the low life’s he must deal with while she blissfully goes about an air headed existence raising his children) before he meets, and has an affair with Pam whom he is sure shares his super cop ideals. Don’t know if this relationship works out or not because I felt greasy and stopped listening. He throws a few of his colleagues some “bones of acknowledgment” along the way during his career. But as far as I could tell the book highlights his genius as a crime fighter, meditation guru, Kung fu fighter, etc. I have no idea of his guilt or innocence because I couldn’t get that far. But I can tell you he trips all over his ego and self importance through part 2. I love Auzzy accents, people and their independent attitudes. But this was not my cup of tea.

I am very proud of the determination to succeed described in the book and am glad that Gary never backed down at any point in the story. An interesting read that gave insight into the working and professional life of a man who has fought to bring justice for others. One Man, one hell of a cop!
really enjoyed listening to the life story of this man's struggle to bring criminals to justice when all the odds seemed against him, lack of funds and support and petty bureaucracy did not temper his determination to do what was right and just, so much so his personal life took a massive hit in the process of his quest to do his job to the best of his ability. A formidable Detective with dogged determonation and a forensic mindset when it came to catching criminals. an excellent Listen.
