Great thriller, shame about the pathologist

DI Nikki and DI’s Jackman/Evans share the same pathologist in different series, but the narration’s interpretations are world’s apart. I much prefer the “Scottish Pathologist” and wonder if DI Nikki’s series character could be changed? Otherwise it was great listen and I look forward to see what DI Nikki and DS Joseph get up too, maybe romance isn’t too far away?!

Not my favorite Joy Ellis book but still good

I love Joy Ellis and the great plots in her books. I didn’t get into this plot really well until towards the end but the ending still surprised me which I loved.

Another Great Book

I’m really enjoying these books by Joy Ellis.
You think you know what is going to happen next. Or who the villain is, when another twist happens.
This book has it all. Tearful moments and joyful ones followed by true suspense.
I’m looking forward to listening to the next book.

Intriguing engaging story, as always.

Love these books but can't stand Henrietta Miere narrating. A grating annoying voice with bad accents. Listen to the DI Jackman/DS Evans narrated by Richard Armitage and you'll hear a world of difference. I'm buying hard copies of the Nikki Galen's series just so I don't have to listen to Henrietta Miere.

Joy Ellis Fen Novels

great book, easy listen. Narration was good but being picky i got distracted by a few simple mispronounced words such as Carjewel being said instead of Cagool (cagoule) jacket.
And poor Irish accent.
Thats me being very fussy though.
But still way better than most Narration.

Getting better and better…

Great book 📕 again thank you Joy Ellis. And yes, they’re getting better and better each story more intricate and even more cunning heights of evil and mayhem.
What’s more the narration is so much better too. I think she’s really settled into the characters.

Great

What a story. Never ceases to amaze me how much life gives, and takes from us all. The police deserve medals for their daily routines. Twists, and turns Never end, brilliant.

Great story full of tension.

Great story full of tension. Narrator was good but pronunciations sometimes off the mark. Overall a very good listen.

Gripping sorry but dialogue needs work!

In the midst of a murder inquiry, DI Nikki Galena’s entire team are individually targeted in a ruthless and highly coordinated vendetta, leaving them vulnerable and confused by the unexpected attacks. I always enjoy ensemble stories like this, especially when the characters are well fleshed out. This is a satisfyingly busy plot with lots of gripping twists and turns; however, I still found some of the written dialogue a bit clichéd and stilted. Henrietta Meire’s audio narration is strong, except for her voicing of DS Easter who always sounds like a self-righteous boy scout.

My Favourite in the series so far

While it took me a while to get into the series, Joy has really found her rhythm with Nikki and her team on this third installment.
You learn to care very much for each individual member and yet continue to be surprised by the outcome and the overall culprit.
It was nice to see the return of minor characters like Mickey and Tamsin and it was performed well by Henrietta once again.
It's my favourite book in the series so far.
