The role of the Spirit is abysmally overlooked in our churches today. In Relying on the Holy Spirit, Tozer argues for the need for every Christian everywhere to desire earnestly for the filling of the Holy Spirit.

To have found God and still seek Him is a love paradox, rejected by the too-easy-satisfied religious person, but justified by the offspring of the flaming heart in happy experience. This heavenly contradiction was expressed by Saint Bernard of Clairvaux in a musical four-line poem that will be quickly grasped by every worshiping soul.

Story
A deep, inspiring, and often challenging study of the Lord Jesus Christ's miracles and parables. Men who were led by the hand or groped their way along the wall to reach Jesus were touched by his finger and went home without a guide, rejoicing that Jesus Christ had opened their eyes. Jesus is still able to perform such miracles. And, with the power of the Holy Spirit, his word will be expounded and we’ll watch for the signs to follow, expecting to see them at once.

The heart of man is his worst part before it is regenerated, and the best part afterward. It is the seat of principles, and the fountain of actions. The greatest difficulty in conversion is to win the heart to God. The greatest difficulty after conversion is to keep the heart with God. For out of it [the heart] are the issues of life. In other words, the heart is the source of all vital operations; it is the origin of both good and evil, just as the spring in a watch that sets all the wheels in motion.

The Christ many preach and write about is not the real Christ. The Christ of many Evangelical, Protestant, and Catholic churches today is not the actual Christ Jesus who once walked this earth and whom men saw and studied and knew—the Christ who was the incarnate Word of God and the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

Nothing is more important for our own mental, moral, and spiritual development, or for our increase in usefulness, than Bible study. But, not all Bible study is equally profitable. Some Bible study is absolutely profitless. How to study the Bible so as to get the most benefit from it is a topic of immeasurable importance.

There has perhaps never been an age that set such great store in study as that in which we now live. The unfortunate thing about it is that so much of the study in our day is devoted to books and subjects in which there is little or no profit. Time is squandered on the purely speculative, the uncertain, the unprofitable, the unessential, the unproductive, the irrelevant, and the transitory. The most profitable of all study is wisely ordered Bible study. Its value is incalculable. It is beyond all comparison more profitable than any other study.

Repentance is not optional. It is not left to our choice whether or not we will repent, but it is an indispensable command. God has enacted a law in the High Court of heaven that no sinner will be saved except the repenting sinner, and he will not break his own law. No one can willfully continue in sin and expect to be covered by the blood of Christ. Even if all the angels stood before God and begged for the life of an unrepenting person, God would not grant it.

Are you for Christ or are you against him? You know you are either one or the other, for he says so. We learn in Matthew 12:30 in the words of Jesus himself: He that is not with me is against me. Everyone is either with Jesus wholeheartedly, confessedly, and openly, or else they are against Jesus. Which are you? For Christ or against him?

It is indifference that leaves people alone and allows them to go their own way. It is love, tender love, that warns them and raises the cry of alarm. The cry of “Fire! Fire!” at midnight might sometimes rudely, harshly, and unpleasantly startle a person out of his sleep, but who would complain if that cry was the means of saving his life? The words except you repent, you will all likewise perish might at first seem stern and severe, but they are words of love, and they could be the means of delivering precious souls from hell.

Is there one God or three? How does one reconcile the "One God" of the Sh'ma with the "Three Persons" of the trinity? The doctrine of the trinity has been at the heart of much theological controversy. The routine objection is that the doctrine sacrifices monotheism to "tritheism." But this objection thrives on a misconception of divine personality in the image of disparate, individual, human selves.

Publisher's Summary
The purpose of this audiobook is to make the way of salvation as plain as day to men, women, and children, with the expectation that many of those who listen to the audiobook will see the way, will take it, will be saved at once, and will obtain eternal life. The audiobook goes out into the world for the same purpose that Jesus Christ came into it: To seek and to save that which was lost (Luke 19:10 AKJV).
Jesus Christ came to save sinners. Do you want Jesus to take an interest in you and save you? Then you must take your place before him as a sinner - a commonplace, unadorned, unvarnished, inexcusable, self-confessed sinner. Not a respectable sinner; no, not a sophisticated sinner or a cultivated sinner; no, not an attractive sinner or an amiable sinner; no, just a plain, unadorned sinner - a poor, miserable, vile, guilty, worthless, Hell-deserving sinner.
Did you know that more people are shut out of Jesus Christ’s saving grace, pardon, Heaven, and eternal life because they won’t come to Jesus Christ as sinners - plain, ugly, wretched sinners? Far more people are shut out of Heaven by the pride that keeps them from crying, God be merciful to me a sinner, than are shut out by the enormity of their sins or by the stubbornness of their infidelity. It is as true today as it was when Jesus Christ first said it to the moralists of his own day: The publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you (Matthew 21:31).
Christ Jesus came not merely to save the sinner from the guilt of his sins and from the penalty of his sins, but to save him also from the power of sin. Jesus Christ does save from sin’s guilt and from sin’s punishment; he does save from a guilty conscience and from Hell, but thank God, that is not all; he saves from sin’s power. Our Lord’s own words bring this out with great clearness and force. He says in John 8:34 (ASV), Every one that committeth sin is the bondservant [slave] of sin. We all know this is true. How many of us know from bitterest experience the slavery of sin, the slavery of drunkenness, the slavery of lust, the slavery of the greed for gold, the slavery of a bad temper, the slavery of an unruly tongue, the slavery of a mean disposition, or the slavery of unclean thoughts.
Yes, we have all known something about the bondage of sin, but listen to what Jesus Christ: If therefore the son shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed (John 8:36 ASV). Jesus Christ, the son of God, the savior who died on Calvary’s cross to make pardon possible, rose from the dead and is a living savior today. He has all power...in Heaven and in Earth (Matthew 28:18 AKJV), and is therefore able to save to the uttermost, not merely from the uttermost but also to the uttermost, all those who come to God through him (Hebrews 7:25); he saves us from all the slavery of sin. He saves us from sin’s power as well as from sin’s guilt. That is what he came to do; that is what he does do. (Reuben A. Torrey).
About the author:
Reuben Archer Torrey traveled all over the world leading Evangelistic Tours, preaching to the unsaved. It is believed that more than 1000,000 were saved under his preaching. Torrey married Clara Smith in 1879, with whom he had five children. In 1908, he helped start the Montrose Bible Conference in Pennsylvania, which continues today. He became dean of the Bible Institute of Los Angeles (now Biola University) in 1912, and was the pastor of the Church of the Open Door in Los Angeles from 1915 to 1924.
