Story
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Story
Chosen from birth to usher in a new era, Poppy’s life has never been her own. The life of the Maiden is solitary. Never to be touched. Never to be looked upon. Never to be spoken to. Never to experience pleasure. Waiting for the day of her Ascension, she would rather be with the guards, fighting back the evil that took her family, than preparing to be found worthy by the gods. But the choice has never been hers.

Story
After my ex crushed my dreams in the music industry, I’m done with getting my heart broken. Working as an assistant for an NHL player was supposed to be a breeze, but nothing about Jamie Streicher is easy. He’s an intimidatingly hot, grouchy jerk who can't stand me. The guy has a massive ego. Keeping things professional will be no problem, even when he demands I move in with him.

Carmen and Jude are such an intriguing 💑 couple
This is a fun novella from Carden's point of view Fabulous narration, can tell which character is which, life and emotion throughout. A great quick listen. I love Holly's take on faeries!

Holly and Kelly slay
Holly Black and Caitlin Kelly are both masters of story telling. Holly Black draws the reader back into the beautiful, wicked world of Elfhame with these stunning new tales that give new depth to our beloved King and Queen. And Caitlin Kelly! she could narrate a recipe book and turn it into an epic read that I would happily devour. Her voice breathes life into the words. 10/10

Average book. Series much better
Love the series, wasn’t a huge fan of this story. Quite boring and not worth using a credit.
Recommend the three-part series, just not this book.

***WOW I WANT MORE***
It's fantastic to catched up with all our fav characters well mainly the high King and Jude the high queen. It's great to have a peek on what happened to the cruel prince who became the high king of elfhame and how he thought of Jude. Thanks Holly for that snippet. Caitlyn Kelly you are brilliant as always thank you x

This was great
Having really enjoyed the The Folk of the Air series, I knew that this would be a safe bet of a good book. I wasn't wrong. I especially loved how the art of storytelling is portrayed and how much it plays into the overall narrative.

Lacklustre in parts but Caitlin Kelly made it enjoyable.
I didn't like Cardan's backstory much. I felt like there could have been more details, it was saddening that the book was lacklustre. The ending was the only saving grace for the book in my opinion.
Now, I do understand why fans love this story but at the end of the day, I had a different expectation going into it.
Not a bad book at all, but it doesn't add much to the Folk of the Air series.
I would have dnf this book if I didn’t listen to it.

Excellent YA fantasy book
Excellent narration
A captivating and original book. Interesting main characters with a good balance of strengths and flaws.
Good worldbuilding, a detailed plot with unexpected twists, and refreshing characters that don't follow traditional YA tropes.
Less romance than expected but it set up brilliantly for an organic enemies to lovers plot in the next book.

Such good stories - such little time
I love this book, really, I do. However, unfortunately, its not as long as I want it to be. I suggest that, if you want it, get it. I love it. Beautiful illustrations, and the narration, well, someone give Caitlin a prize! It's a delightful listenm and does give some nice input on Cardans past, and how he grew up the way he grew up to be. Yes, there are less Jude and Carden stories than some wanted, but I do think that its definatly still worth the listen, or read.
So its up to you, really.
