Publisher's Summary

Fate. Destiny. Karma.... She’s mine.

It all started with a broken heart.
And a breakup party.
Rock stars. Circus freaks. And a bachelorette party.
Too. Much. Booze.
An embarrassing tattoo.
And a twist of fate.

Her name was Danny.

I thought she was the one.
But then I lost her.
And I never thought I’d see her again.
Now...I’m a mess.
I’ve had my heart broken - more than once.
And my band's broken up.
I’ve sworn to myself that I’ll never fall in love again.
Time to focus on new music and my new band.

As soon as I sober up from my latest breakup party....

But then there she is.
Standing in the rain, looking at me.
My dream girl.
My destiny....
Danny.
I missed my chance with her once.
Maybe this time...I’ll get it right.

AMAZING

An awesome open-minded romance. This had a weird kind of ending. Don't get me wrong, it was great. It ended with a happy ending, as well as a little snippet of the next book, but it also ended with possible futures for the couple that could change the whole dynamic. I listened to this as an audiobook and absolutely LOVED the narration and the story as a whole. This was an amazing rockstar romance with an amazingly hot male protagonist and an equally hot female protagonist. The story starts off with a mistaken identity when the male protagonist - Ash - thinks the female protagonist - Danica - is her twin sister. Just that first line tells a lot about the start of a relationship. If you read the blurb and think you will like it, I definitely recommend it. This book was amazing!

DNF

Didn’t grab me. Irritating writing and SO many characters without definition so it just became a list of names. Returned at only 5% in. As much as I could handle.

A FLAWLESS ALL-CONSUMING ROCK GOD ROMANCE

Yes, this is a Rockstar romance.. but wow.. wow.. WOW it’s so so much more.. in fact it doesn’t, IMO, come better than this. It’s a refreshingly different approach too as Rock God Ashley Player’s lifestyle spins out of control after breaking away from his band and after yet another heartbreak.. until he sees Danica buying flowers in the rain. This awesome, weighty (16+ hr), slow-burn romance is about a handsome bisexual damaged love-lost Singer and an Interior Designer with a beautiful face and soul.. and, through understanding, emotional support and many wise words, love finally blossoms and blooms. But first there’s a mistaken identity where a sweet second-chance encounter becomes a first chance for Cupid.. and Fate and Destiny does the rest. A very enjoyable and engaging dual POV storyline which was both well-written and well-paced.. and each chapter overflowed with electrifying feels as Ash’s character development grew and grew. The characters were loveable, loving, smart, giving, sweet and loyal.. and their chemistry connection oozed from the fully-packed chapters as the relationship-driven plot picked up speed, sizzled, smouldered and scorched it’s way to the happy (for now) ending. As well as a beautiful love story, this first slice of the Players series reintroduces you to past characters from the Dirty series and meshes them in with varied new characters. It also includes you in the birth of a brand new all-star grouping and sets the stage for the next book in the now newly formed Players rock band. Worth a credit? This talented author’s work is truly compelling.. and yes this is (IMO) definitely creditworthy. Jaine Diamond is a new (to me) author and I’m now eagerly going back to slowly pick-off all the previously missed Dirty band members one by one. I would recommend hearing them first if, like me, you missed them because the past member’s relationships are a bit entwined with this story.. however that’s not at all essential - just preferable. Fantastic narration by Ava and Lee brought it to life, injected the feels and made this an unforgettable five star audiobook.

Best Story in the entire Dirty/Players Series!!

This is the story that anyone who has read A Dirty Wedding Night, Dirty Like Seth, and Dirty Like Dylan has been waiting for!! Those stories give a glimpse of Ashley Player, especially Dylan's story, but Hot Mess is all about Ash! If you've read the Dirty Series (hopefully in order), your heart will go out to Ash so by the time you get to his story, you will absolutely love him!! By far my favorite character/story!!

Ash is finally getting his happy ending!!

💜 Confessions of a Bibliophile Review 💜 Ashley Player is FINALLY getting his happy ending! I have been waiting for sooo long! Hot Mess by Jaine Diamond is book one of the Player's series but we met Ash awhile ago in the Dirty series. ❝𝑇ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑒 𝑠ℎ𝑒 𝑖𝑠. 𝑆𝑡𝑎𝑛𝑑𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑖𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑟𝑎𝑖𝑛, 𝑙𝑜𝑜𝑘𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑎𝑡 𝑚𝑒. 𝑀𝑦 𝑑𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑚 𝑔𝑖𝑟𝑙. 𝑀𝑦 𝑑𝑒𝑠𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑦… 𝐷𝑎𝑛𝑛𝑦.❞ This boy has gone through heartbreak after heartbreak and I'm so glad he's finally met his match. I will say I was very interested to see that his story ended up being M/F after Ash was so heavily involved in ménages as well as being bisexual, his story could have gone either way but I adored Danica, I just hope Ash keeps his *bleep* in his pants in the future... otherwise, we may be seeing a bit more of him in the future... As far as the audio, I've only recently gotten into "listening" to my reads so I have zero complaints as far as the performance, etc.

Warning! Do not read before Dylan’s Dirty book!

If you’ve read the Dirty series, this is a spin-off that was released too early in my opinion. It has spoilers that ruined Dylan’s book for me! I’m going to listen of course, but I’m so mad that I already know the outcome. Grrrr! Couldn’t they have just waited until after just one more book!?! Having said that, if you haven’t read the Dirty series, I would absolutely do that first! But, this book was great! I love Ashley and his girl. I love that she was able to heal him so thoroughly, yet so subtly. Great listening!!!

just didn't hold my interest

just didn't hold my interest, I'm sure others would like it but for me a test of endurance. I'm thinking I'll avoid the author going forward, well narrated but they're probably culpable for my lack of engagement too.
