5 stars for the male narrators and 0 for Quirk..
Where to start? This was definitely a different kind of fantasy. Mordred, Hades, Persephone, and of course Nate, were all the good guys and King Arthur and Merlin were the bad guys. It was a really good series********** This one was built around the deaths of Arthur and Merlin and all their minions********** No romance and the F-bomb was used 64 times********** As for the narration: Steve West and Simon Mattacks were great BUT Moira Quirk was just awful! Every man and woman sounded just alike. You had to pay close attention to who the book said was talking or you thought it was a girl. Good grief, this is is almost 2021 and STILL the female narrators had the men sounding like woman. Pathetic.

So here we are at last
I discovered the work of Steve McHugh 7 years ago working an extremely long cold job in my native Minnesota. From the start I was in love with the characters, world, and story of his universe. Of long living beings who claimed to be Gods, and the brash, damaged, hero who kept them all in place. Now, as the series comes to a close we see both what the author is capable of, and what his characters are as well. For anyone who has followed the work of Steve McHugh, this does not disappoint as his final movement in this world. For those considering jumping in at the end, come on in, the water is fine, the exposition is sufficient to catch you up, and the fox is hilarious (you’ll need to join us to get that one). As endings go (and I’m not a fan of any ending) this is a perfect one.

so many many Many sad faces ...
bc i never want it to end!!! i waited so long for this book, it seems like it should've been longer (cause over 11 hours isn't enough)! the ending wrapped things up nicely tho, No disappointment here. there were many laughs along the way, and a few times when i almost cried. but wow, all in all, it was just fanTastic!!! many, many props to mr McHugh, mr Mattacks, mr West and ms Quirk. what an incredible collaboration! honestly, i personally think ms Quirk did a Much better job than the previous female narrator~ definitely too bad that she hadn't done this the whole way thru. anyway, i know for a fact that I'll be listening to this series time and time again. i just may even try to get them all in paperback, if that's possible. i fell in love with Nate Garrett from the very beginning of the Hellequin Chronicles, and he never once let me down! tytyTy!!! 💗💗💗

It ends a little abruptly
I was very excited for this book. I decided to go back and re-read the whole series before I read this installment and I am so glad I did. It really confirmed for me that this is one of my favorite UF series. It's always a fun surprise when you like something the second time around as much as you did the first time and that is not always the case. I recently re-read another series because a new book came out almost 6 years after the "finale" and discovered I absolutely hate the main character - lol! It seems I didn't realize how annoying she was the first time through. My only complaint about this final installment was that it ended kind of abruptly. I honestly think there needs to be a Mordred trilogy to wrap this series up but it is ok if there isn't one. This ending was satisfying in it's own way and that's not always the case with series' either (think Iron Druid). Anyway, read and enjoy! Well done Steve McHugh! As always this series has had great narrators and this book was more of the same!

Fitting Finish.
These interlinked series have kept me entertained for year's now. The next one pre-ordered as soon as possible. This feels like the end with the way it wrapped up and it is to all intents and purposes very well sawn up. The story and narration are as alway exceptional. The characters have developed via all the spin offs to a point that there feels like multiple main characters. Just a fitting climax to an outstanding series. I just hope that some of the characters can continue in there own spin off or maybe a more in depth prequel into creation of Nate and the horsemen.

Loved it!
It can be hard to keep die hard fans happy as a series progresses but I'm delighted to say McHugh achieves this with this thoroughly satisfying book. It has your usual plot twists that turn you around and the character development is heartwarming without being insincere. There are moments where your heart is in your throat or breaking with the character and the story keeps on at a great pace. All I can say is, well done on a difficult line well-walked.

Hello darkness my old friend...
There were mixed emotions with this one. Nate's adventures have been a welcome getaway over the past four years or so and knowing this was the last instalment meant it was tinged with some sadness. The result was never in question, from elsewhere - "Journey before destination..." And it was always going to be about that journey and what the collateral damage would be. Also, would he be able to protect friends and family? Would he be able to find Erebus and thank him in person? Well, no spoilers from me on that journey to the end game. All I can say is that it was something of a surprise in that the pace was much more steady than previously despite journeying across several realms again following the breadcrumbs to Arthur and Merlin. I think that journey could maybe have been made a little longer as some of the behind the scenes plot points kind of get rushed over with the bad guy monologuing rather than finding out the finer detail behind them (particularly as some hark back as far as book one). I do like the multiple PoV style with the Rebellion books with the three way split again between Nate, Mordred and Layla, but from the Audiobook standpoint, I still don't like having a narrator for each and for me this one misses Elizabeth Knowelden badly (Moira Quirk does a good job but we have five books of previous character development lost). What really bothers me with this particular audiobook (beyond the loss of character continuity by using multiple narrators) is that a great deal of the non-native English speaking characters (notably Norse & Mediterranean) seem to have migrated to Wales and Ireland when not narrated by Simon Mattacks. So, to summarise, loved the story, would have preferred the audiobook to have featured just Simon Mattacks & Elizabeth Knowelden.
