The Scariest Thing is That This was "Published"

The choices for this compilation are mostly very good stories. Unfortunately, that is the sole positive thing which can be said of this aural abortion. We have narrators incapable of narration, accents so thick they render anything being uttered incomprehensible, and virtually non-existent production values. Whoever put this together apparently did so on a bet to see just how atrocious, ridiculous and awful a series of recordings could be and still get posted on Audible. Seriously, Libra Vox sounds like a BBC production compared to this mess. There was no attempt at mixing, or mastering or bothering with any form of even semi-professional sound processing.: We get pops, and hisses, and distortions, and background noises throughout, in addition to every story being poorly recorded.
As to the narrators themselves, they have apparently been the victims of an elaborate practical joke by the "producers" who have convinced them that they can, in fact, narrate. Sadly, this was self-evidently believed and acted upon with the resultant 23 hours and 15 minutes of failure.
Perhaps most tragic of all, this disaster does not even possess any redeeming kitsch factor of being "so bad it is good." It is just bad, more than bad, it sets a new standard for atrociousness.
These stories deserve a better rendition and those who produced this deserve a week in the public pillory.

Not a good reader.

The stories are great but the reader will put you to sleep. I've kept the book for that purpose.

The narration is awful.

The narrator's inflections are off, ill timed and hurried, ruining the stories. The authors require no critique; their bodies of work speak for themselves. I stopped listening after the third story.

WONDERFUL STORIES BUT...VERY DIFFICULT TO FOLLOW !

TERRIBLE NARRATION IN EVERY SINGLE STORY! HEAVY ACCENTS, BORING MONOTONE AND/OR NEAR IMPOSSIBLE STORY TELLERS. AWFUL. REALLY TOO BAD BECAUSE THESE HORROR STORIES ARE WONDERFULLY EERIE, SPOOKY AND MIND TINGLING

The narration is a deal-breaker

There are about a dozen narrators on this audiobook. They are all subpar. I feel like I just paid for the worst-quality librivox production. It's poo.

A great deal!

I am not sure what other reviewers expected, but I for one don't expect to get the best quality for about $1 US. That said, this is still a very well done book!

Very quiet narration.

So much quieter than all my other books. Could only listen via headphones. Good besides that.

Not scary

Slow to get to the point. Intense in some areas, humdrum and same old same old in others.

May Be Classics But...

You either love them or you work your way through. Kudos to the narrators for reading these so well. It is easier to listen than to read old classics but I doubled back several times getting numb to the proper language.
