This is a gripping and important story. and in terms of the audiobook experience... I have been raving to everyone I can about this narrator. I've never heard anything like it. Slipping between dialects and accents completely seamlessly. I'm hooked.

A real lesson in generational trauma. It’s very clever and engrossing and absolutely heartbreaking. I think the ending was a little cliched but I understand why it was necessary to tie everything together. A great listen.

I absolutely loved this book. Very sad in parts, sometimes I even considered putting it away. It was however worth persevering.
Such a lovely way all the characters were connected, however the chain of pain was passed from one generation to the next.
What these poor people endured was harrowing. Treated like animals, with no feelings, no empathy and a lot in name of God. A terrible God as far as I’m concerned.
Definitely worth reading, beautifully written.

this book really highlights the trauma passed down but also the unknowing connection we have to the past and how much that can dictate our future. it was so touching and so thought provoking. I paused it often and had to have conversations about what I had read. beautiful book

I didn't want this book to end. The storyline is so well written, I love how each character gets their own chapter. The amount of research and time that went into creating this masterpiece has paid off.

The voice actor was also great and made the story easy to follow, a huge plus!
