About this listen

What is God’s will for me? Simply happy holiness.

If you would rather turn it around, it is holy happiness. That is what life is supposed to be! Genesis 1–2 is the foundation. This is the reason that the Christian can look at the world in hope even with all its evils and say, “It is not supposed to be that way. What can we do about it?” We have the One who made us for himself and for each other, so we have an obligation to step in and give our lives to help one another.

Do you know what the word holiness means biblically? It means wholeness…. When the Asbury Revival came in 1970, the thing that impressed me the most about it was the way things became clear. Three questions were answered. Am I right with God? Am I right with my neighbor? Am I right with myself? That is what revival is all about. That is what God wants—our whole being. He wants us to be right with God, with our neighbor and with ourselves. God wants whole people.

Dennis F. Kinlaw (1922–2017) was an evangelist, a pastor, an educator, and an administrator. He served as the president of Asbury College for 18 years, and he founded the Francis Asbury Society to encourage the spread of biblical holiness through evangelism, preaching, and scholarship. His other works include The Mind of Christ, Lectures in Old Testament Theology, This Day with the Master, Prayer: Bearing the World, and Let’s Start with Jesus.
