For seventy-seven days in 1968, amid fears that America faced its own disastrous Dien Bien Phu, six thousand US Marines held off thirty thousand North Vietnamese Army regulars at the remote mountain stronghold called Khe Sanh. It was the biggest battle of the Vietnam War, with sharp ground engagements, devastating artillery duels, and massive US air strikes. After several weeks of heroic defense, the besieged Americans struck back in a series of bold assaults, and the North Vietnamese withdrew with heavy losses.

Incredible Story
While being incredibly sad, this is a huge part of modern history, the book was very detailed, and read very well, clear and precise. I recommend you get this book to understand life as it was then..

Heavy Going, but worth it
A comprehensive blow by blow history lesson. A must read, if just to bring some long past focus to an event that none of us should forget.

Very good book
The book itself is excellent, I cannot fault it and learnt allot. The only thing is the narrator. The way he says some of the words is like water torcher. Drip, drip, drip. In particular the words "North Vietnamese". However buy the book or audio and persevere. It's worth it. l learnt allot. Sorry for my whinge.

Superb!!
Brilliantly researched and superbly written. The author walks the listener through the harrowing months by following individual after individual describing their actual experiences and often the circumstances of their demise.
As a veteran myself I’ve seldom heard told so brilliantly the randomness and cruelty of fate or lived the days through so many names that now live forever on the granite walls of the Vietnam memorial in Washington

It's ok
Prefer hearing first hand account not a reporters.
Narrator does not know how to say Vietnamese. Can't listen anymore.
