Publisher's Summary

If you want to discover the captivating history of Mexico, then pay attention....

Before the modern country was born in 1821, the territory that today comprises 32 states and few small islands was inhabited by ancient dynasties and kingdoms of warriors, astronomers, priests, temples for human sacrifice, and, surprisingly, some of the largest cities in the world. It is estimated that the sacred city of Chichen Itza, in the Yucatan Peninsula, was larger than Paris at its height of splendor.

This fascinating journey through Mexico’s history, from its amazing pre-Hispanic past to the end of the 20th century, will reveal more surprises than the listener can imagine. In the words of the self-proclaimed Mexican singer Chavela Vargas, “Mexico has magic. I looked for that magic, and I found it there.”

In History of Mexico: A Captivating Guide to Mexican History, Starting from the Rise of Tenochtitlan through Maximilian's Empire to the Mexican Revolution and the Zapatista Indigenous Uprising, you will discover topics such as:

  • The era of empires
  • The Spanish-Aztec war and new Spain
  • The birth of a nation
  • “From the Halls of Montezuma....”
  • The big division
  • “The most beautiful empire in the world”
  • In the times of Don Porfirio
  • The Mexican Revolution
  • The Cristeros
  • The Second World War and the Mexican miracle
  • End of century pangs
  • And much, much more!

Mexican history.

It is, at its heart, an educated work with a lot of information and good references. The writer is tender toward the people of Mexico but also lets the user know about their faults and failings. A nation with great a great future if only it provides itself to have it, Mexico is famous for we Notre Americas to know concerning.

Comprehensive

If you require to learn how Mexico became what it is today and how Mexican society grew to be what it is you should learn this book. It is not crucial in any way, just all the facts, good, bad, humor, and sorrow. This is the first history audiobook I've to listen to it that like a story from start to finish.

This is a very in depth audiobook

I have learned dozens of books on the history of México, but none provided me the feel of real knowledge of why results transpired as they did in México's bloody and complicated past as thoroughly as Fire and Stock.

This Audiobook is a great start to Mexican History. The writer brings a writing style that is easy to understand but emotional in the more tense moments of history. I highly prescribe this book.

Very Comprehensive,

The history of Mexico is very difficult and the author does a good job of cutting it down. This audible gives more than just dry facts and adds his understanding of the facts that bring the history alive and describes how Mexico got to where it is today.

A Deep History audible

My purpose in this audiobook was to gain an understanding of Mexico’s history and the flows that run within her society now as a result of that history in order than I could have a better attraction for the country. This audiobook absolutely helped me accomplish that goal.

Mexico's reconstruction

This looked like a majestic audible but was never a task. The audiobook feels seamless, from one period to another. The pre-Columbian period particularly is fascinating since most of us know only Aztec and Maya!

Outstanding

Different and refreshing approach to Mexican history. Insightful and informative selections from both well known and more obscure original sources. Sections are brief and on point. Excellent bedside book. Outstanding as a stand alone work and valuable as a reference to more complete treatment of subjects you find particularly interesting. Balanced and objective. Best work on Mexico I've read in quite some time.

The Best

It is a great anthology that will give its readers a very good picture of Mexican Culture. The authors chosen are excellent. If you are a student or a teacher of Mexican Culture, this is a book you should read. Moreover, for those of you that only want to reach the Medieval ideal: Mixing learning and enjoyment, this is also a book for you.
