It's a decision that must be faced when you're balancing on the tightrope of neurodivergence, finding your way as a second-generation immigrant, or facing down American racism even while loving America. And it's the only decision when you've weighed society's expectations and found them wanting. In The Radical Element, 12 of the most talented writers working in young adult literature today tell the stories of girls of all colors and creeds.

His hideous adaptions
Dreadful. Poe would roll in his grave!
I was looking forward to well-written, clever modern adaptions of Poe's work, but this volume has very little literary merit. I couldn't get through it without skipping stories.
It opens with a beautiful adaption of Annabel Lee but then goes downhill rapidly except for a clever adaption of The Tell-Tale Heart. The Masque of the Red Death was ok.
After the trashy serial killer adaption of The Pit and the Pendulum, my hopes started to diminish. After enduring the cyberpunk/ cyber-hacker hacking of The Fall of The (bank) of Usher, I gave up. I didn't want to spoil The Cask of Amontillado, so no more.
Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
