Good Start

This is more like 3 1/2 stars. I like the premise of the story, I just don't care too much for Evan himself. I personally felt he was too weak of man to be a lead in a story. I understand he's empathetic but still he was too beta and not enough Alpha for me. I do like Josselyn and think she is a strong woman. I will be interested to see how the rest of these books goes.

Just okay

Note to self: Male Lead that’s an Empath = Angst If you enjoy drama built on the angst of “oh I want you but I can’t have you” then you may like this book. I’m not a fan of that. I read to escape, explore and be entertained. I know enough confused people in real life. I don’t want to read about them. Also, I prefer strong main characters so it wasn’t my cup of tea because Evan was a bit too soft hearted and fragile. For this reason I opted not to finish the book.

Cool, unique elements. Space romance!

Unique ideas. Sweet romance. Good narration. His voice fit the story well. I’d recommend listening. Josselyn’s family was murdered and she has been stuck in a frozen state for over 100 years; it’s brutal what happened to her. Evan is part of a space crew that happens upon the home world of Josselyn; they rescue her, but things don’t go quite that well. Josselyn isn’t used to how things are after being frozen for over 100 years and all the pain from the murders of her family feels so fresh to her; she’s dealing with a lot. She wants revenge for her family and is in for some surprises. Evan being an empath was an interesting idea. There’s a nice connection between Josselyn and Evan; I would’ve liked a little more on the romance front, but it was still heart touching. Loved the space aspect! Space romances are one of my favs. The author takes the story in some interesting ways. I was entertained the whole time. Looking forward to reading more in this series!

Exciting new spin-off series

As an empath Evan is not sure if his feelings are genuine or from those around him add to that the curse placed on him and his fellow crew members and his life is best lived alone. When they stumble upon a prisoner pardon they decide to investigate. Evan is instantly drawn to Lady Josselyn as is everyone else but her run away emotions can literally kill him so he steers clear. That is until he can no longer resist. I did not read any of the previous series associated with this book and I did not feel as if that hindered my listening and understanding. It was a bit slow for me to get in to but once I did I could not stop listening! I really loved the dynamic chemistry of the characters and how it all came together but left threads for future stories.

Space pirate love story. You know you're curious.

If I am honest, I wasn't sure what to expect out of this series. Space pirates? Hmmm, why not! I was so pleasantly surprised when I was sucked into a world, galaxy, and story that I just didn't want to stop listening to. Pillow does a fabulous job of a building the world, characteristics, and back story that you can sink your teeth into. I fell in love with the fierce and strong Lady Josselyn and the sensitive and protective Evan. Ferraiuolo narration was so easy to listen to and his voice really brings the characters to life. I can't wait to listen to the next one!

Very enjoyable!!

Fantastic start to an entertaining sci-fi romance series about a space pirate and his crew of misfits. I've always enjoyed Michelle M. Pillow's books, they are my guilty pleasure. The bases for the story and the plot are well developed, loaded with twist and turns. The characters are intriguing, particularly the hero, Evan, and the heroine Lady Josselyn. Their connection is one of passion with sizzling chemistry. Michael Ferraiuolo does an outstanding job with the narration; I thoroughly enjoyed his performance. Overall, His Frost Maiden was a very delightfully entertaining audiobook. I was given a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

great story

thoroughly enjoyed this even though i sort of knew where it ended having listened to book 2 first. josselyn and evan meet when she is released from her stone prison 103 years after being encased. this starts a quest for revenge against Jack Stevens, the person who betrayed her family and incarcerated her in stone. misunderstandings and emotions abound creating a good tale of love that is most readable (listenable) and well worth the effort.

Loved it

A great storyline and characters are wow! Betrayal, action and romance. What more do you want. Definitely a must get. Narrator kind of dragged it in the beginning but made it work as he went.

Really enjoyable

Having mostly read this author, I was pleasantly surprised that I got into the story quite quickly. I enjoyed the characterisation and world building. The book was well portrayed by the narrator. The only difficulty I found was identifying with each character and remembering who was who but that is probably because I am more used to reading than having the book read to me If you enjoy Michelle’s other work then you will definitely enjoy this series.
