About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

A change of scene or a change of heart?

When your boyfriend calls you impulsive, what do you do?

If you’re Jenny Porter, you dash off to Scotland determined to save a failing textile mill, of course.

That’s how Jenny finds herself having awkward encounters with the abrasive but disconcertingly attractive Ross Grant.

And then, just as things between Jenny and Ross develop into something more interesting, her boyfriend, Henry, arrives in Scotland. Should she do the sensible thing and follow Henry back to London?

Or might her Highland adventure be more than just a fling?

Critic Reviews

"Thank goodness for Katie Fforde, the perfect author to bring comfort in difficult times. She really is the queen of uplifting, feel good romance." (Aj Pearce)

I found the slow voices quite annoying. Didn't really enjoy the story or the Characters.

Not a favourite.

Performance from the narrator was adequate at best, she didn’t really have a good English accent or a good Scottish accent. A very wispy voice.
Story was traditional Katie Fforde - if you love her stuff you’ll love this too. Predictable, but they all are. A good winter holiday read.
I am still annoyed at the scene where the character smoked in the craft room however - what craftsperson would ever EVER smoke around their yarn???

A usual Fforde affair

I enjoy the friendships and real life situations that make up the backdrop of Katie Fforde's romances. On the upside I liked how the main character worked hard to help others... On the downside I wondered why a guest in a house had to do the cooking. I enjoyed the reader's seamless switches from character to character but found some voices a bit slow so played them at 1.25 speed.

Not your typical working holiday romance
