About this listen

Charles Preston Carmichael is the most infuriating man I've ever met.

I want to sock the golden boy of college hockey right in the mouth. He enjoys telling me everything I'm messing up—publicly. And since he's my roommate for the next year, I can't avoid him.

Yet there's something about him that makes me watch him. Something dark. A secret I want to uncover.

When he returns from a weekend away, broken and haunted, I can't keep my distance anymore. He needs someone, and I'll be damned if it's not me.

Soon my life no longer revolves around hockey but the nightmares he's living with. Desperately, I want to save him, but I can't. Only he can save himself.

Can I watch him destroy himself as he tries to hold tight to the things that matter, or will I be the final hit in the destruction of his life?

Hidden Scars is an MM enemies-to-lovers hockey romance with a jealous f*ck buddy and plenty of heat.

I really enjoyed this. Hurt/comfort MM romance with hockey, trauma & lots of rough spiciness! Beautiful character development and just a sweet story with a well earned HEA. Narration was perfect!

Broken & beautiful

These was a beautiful story that pulled on all the heart strings. It does come with a trigger warning of abuse from a trusted family member, who is a medical professional. In saying that, if you can handle listening to trauma scenes there is one scene that skims over it, and one scene that we hear what actually happens, throughout we also see mental manipulation. Largely the book deals with the emotional implications of dealing with trauma, and how always being put down effects your self esteem and causes constant doubt and acceptance of anything positive. There is a beautiful love story between Jeremy and Preston - (both pro ice hockey players), which helps pull him through the dark times and out the other side with a HEA.
100% acknowledgment to Teddy Hamilton who does the narrating so well, that you feel all the emotions and the mental struggles going on in Preston’s head as he battles through.
A powerful story, but also coupled with some smiling moments and spicy bedroom scenes.
Would recommend

Teddy Hamilton does emotions so well.

Wow! what a story. As someone who has experienced DV I really struggled with parts of there journey to love, however, did not take away from how much I loved this book, only added to it.

This book was nothing like I expected. I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to listen to it. It’s fantastic.

There are some pretty intense themes of abuse and cutting.

this is still a good book overall but not just a fluffy romance.

Intense, trigger warnings

This is an enemies to more college hockey romance, featuring Jeremy and Preston, and is a book one in the Darby U Hockey Boys series.

When I tell you I love this book, it’s in my all-time favourites list. This is my third time re-readng this book so far, and I will never get sick of it.

There is something so beautiful about Preston and how broken and touch-starved he is, and how Jeremy is the prefect type of comfort for him, their story completely drew me in and has a piece of my heart.

This book is a little dark, so make sure you read the CW, but it is so worth your time. You will fall in love with Preston and Jeremy too. This whole series is great but these two just have a hold on me.

Things to expect in this book are:

Story of Jeremy and Preston

I have to start by saying I rushed here with 8 hours still to go, but I had to review it now. *Trigger warning*. As someone who struggles with ptsd from abuse I can say there are parts of this that are so well written and the portrayal (albeit the character suffers an extreme case) is so well put together. Has been hard to listen to sometimes because not only is it very realistically written but the performances are quite good. I've cried, laughed and sat in giddy or anxious for so much of this story already. Well worth the listen.

Incredibly well written

I enjoyed this, it’s a bit different to what I would normally listen to but I’m glad I did.
Be aware of physical abuse triggers (not between the MCs) as there are some descriptive moments and psychological abuse is also present.
The patience and love (and HEA) makes it a worthwhile story.
