Religion reigns supreme

reading this litany of religious sequence ending with some philosophy was a little bit boring and somewhat soporific. clearly will Durant was a historian of his times. books like sapiens or big history are a much bigger and better take on not just a list of what occurred but some reasoning behind why.

I've read some other books from Durant and my views on his writing have not been changed to a great degree by this book. I appreciate he is trying to cover a lot of historical figures but it would have been so much better had he thought about why he picked those figures and why those figures mattered.
