As per their usual level of brilliance, Haylock and Heath have kept me entertained for the last 3 days. I find myself regularly smiling and laughing aloud, whilst listening . I'd especially like to note Barry's song, at the end of the book, don't miss it 🤣

Excellent addition to the series and of particular note were the quiet mentions to “ he fights with monsters” and “ dungeon crawler Carl”, other great books with similar sarcastic and witty humour.

Another great installment in the series. It has the ensemble of characters who grow & develop as the story progresses. We are introduced to new characters with interesting story lines. I did find Corporal Claws quite infuriating for much of the story but how that arc resolved itself was enjoyable to read. I do love the way Fischer names everything & I picked it immediately as to why Bob got his name.

Usually I find with most series books it's hard to improve on the first one where you are introduced to the main characters. However, I found all of these books enjoyable, even getting better as the adventure progresses.

My only frustration now is how long I have to wait for the next book. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a fantasy story with a slice of life approach. I'm not a gamer, but that does not detract from the story at all. I love the cover art & enjoy having the paperbacks to accompany the audio. I purchase multiple formats for books I love. Worth my money & time.

I feel this series has become a better version of "he who fights with monsters" especially with the downgrade of the last few HWFM books. Little slip up by talking about boat people, hopefully that’s the extent of the non escapism following books will do. No one wants to be reminded of real world problems in their escapism stories
