About this listen
When Cece James agrees to be cast as a ‘Juliet’ on the next season of the hit television show Marry Me, Juliet, it’s certainly not for the right reasons. She’s knee deep in debt and desperate for the associated pay cheque. The last thing on her mind is the hunky ‘Romeo’ waiting for her at the end of the gravel driveway.
But Dylan Jayasinghe Mellor isn’t your usual fame-hungry TV star. An Olympic gold medallist with calloused hands, kind eyes and a propensity for panic attacks, it turns out he’s not here for the right reasons either. As spokesperson for a men’s mental health foundation, and the franchise’s first non-white male lead, Dylan’s got a charity to plug and something to prove.
When Cece gets eliminated on the first night, it seems like her and Dylan’s awkward first meeting will be their last conversation. But when the TV set is shut down unexpectedly, Cece and Dylan suddenly get a little more time together than they’d expected.
Will love bloom when the cameras stop rolling?

Critic Reviews
‘The book's plotline is far from formulaic … it brings elements to this fictional show that reality TV is lacking outside of the novel … an example that these fun reads can still be works of substance, despite the stereotypes.’
‘Jodi never fails to deliver humour, wisdom, and heart.’ (Kylie Scott, New York Times bestselling author)
'an engaging tale of missteps, where love doesn’t happen at first sight.’
Set around a Bachelor-esque program filmed during stage 4 covid restrictions, Here For the Right Reasons is a beautifully crafted romance, touching on issues that affected us all during the pandemic - financial insecurity, social isolation, etc.
Utterly delightful

Here for the Right Reasons had everything I want in a romance and so much more. It had me giggling out loud many times and I couldn't help but have a smile on my face whilst listening to it. I would definitely recommend this story if you like either reality TV, romantic comedies or both!
An Unforgettable Rom-com!

Loved:
> the back story of both protagonists
> talks of the lack of diversity on reality shows
> the chemistry between Dylan and Cece and the will they, won’t they?
> thinking about how the heck the story was going to end. There were so many possibilities!
> reality tv based stories are always so fascinating
> having an Aussie reading the story
> the twists and turns in the story
Annoying:
> Cece’s constant inner monologue about what she thinks Dylan would say. By the end of the book I felt like this was taking up too many pages.
> I wish there had been more. More behind the scenes, more side stories from other characters (I NEED Lily’s story so much!)
> I understood that she needed money and spon-con, but I didn’t need to hear about it every damn chapter. I got it after the first 4 chapters.
> would have loved to have had a duet with another male Aussie voicing Dylan.
This author shows promise and I’m keen to read further publications from them.
Equal parts amazing and annoying.
