About this listen

This classic horror novella was written in 1921 and 1922 and was originally serialized in 1922 in the magazine Home Brew.

The story is an exploration of themes raised in Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.

Herbert West, who is a medical student and later qualifies as a doctor, becomes obsessed with the possibility of reanimating corpses. Unfortunately, the revived subjects do not adapt to reintegration into society. West himself eventually becomes the victim of one of the homicidal zombies.
