About this listen

When the world of Armageddon is attacked by orks, the Black Templars Space Marine Chapter are amongst those sent to liberate it. Chaplain Grimaldus and a band of Black Templars are charged with the defence of Hive Helsreach from the xenos invaders in one of the many battle zones.

But as the orks' numbers grow and the Space Marines' numbers dwindle, Grimaldus faces a desperate last stand in an Imperial temple. Determined to sell their lives dearly, will the Black Templars hold on long enough to be reinforced, or will their sacrifice ultimately be in vain?

This author can do no wrong. He portrays space marines so grimly but with excellence.

Now I want a Black Templars army..

Another great story by ADB, but the audio volume was insanely low. Sound gets drowned out by people whispering 3 streets away.

This story is a great way to experience the Warhammer universe, and makes you want to delve deeper into the lore by bringing alive the beliefs, actions and history of the Imperium amidst the storm of a never ending battle.

Now that’s voice acting!

An absolutely gripping read from start to finish. The First Person perspective of Grimaldus provides an interesting perspective and character arc. Allowing us the reader a deeper insight into the duality of admiration and disgust the Astartes hold for the common people of the Imperium.

Highly recommended for this of who want to see and understand not only how the Astartes think and act but also how they feel

It's beautiful to see the treatment of the Black Templars as not only raging juggernauts but as true people with complex thoughts and emotions

Another hit from ADB

Brilliantly narrated and a thrilling if depressing saga if war, triumph, nihilism and tragedy n the 41st Millenium.

Perfect tale of the Black Templars and Armaggedon

ADB is one of the best writers in WH and the story of Grimaldus is easily one of the best in the universe.
Coupled with a fantastic reading by Jonathan Keeble, this is definitely one of the best WH40k books there is, and a fantastic audio book in turn.

Fantastic story, fantastic performance.

This is a good story of war and I am still trying to let it settle into my thoughts.
While not really liking the Templars I enjoyed the story of the war and how it went from the build up to the aftermath.
I can see why it is considered a must read for 40K fans

Yes it is that good
